:woohoo:WE FINALLY GOT IT!! Before you ask, no pictures yet. It was pouring down rain and was unable to to take photos and of course it got dirty and no self-respecting person would post pictures of an awesome car dirty! Give me a day or so. Just thought I pass along when we were traveling down to pick up our car, the dealer called the cell and told us our picture will be in a GM magazine. He said we were the first to purchase a G8 GXP in the southeast region and they believed we were the second in the entire country. Just got home more about the car later this week how it handled, etc with photos! Our camera is not the best, my daugher has a great camera and she is coming over to take the pictures. Then will change the signature pic!

Here are the pics. The interwebz can't beat me!!!

It is probably me but I think the GXP looks a little more sporty than the GT. I'm sure I'm probably projecting that on the car since I'm getting one. Either way. That is a sweet looking car!!

Congrat and getting your sweet ride. Have to ask this question, DO YOU HAVE BLUETOOTH? Still getting the run around about this stuff. :(

From what I understand, and they can answer definitively, the GXP has bluetooth. I hope I'm correct because that is one of the features that I want since I'm getting a manual transmission.

Perspectives on our Pontiac G8 GXP:
I posted a few more photos on Flickr, 99-LS1-SS post any you like I do not have time this week to work with it. Here is a quickly written overview of our experience so far.

Bob:
PROS:
Awesome Power, very quick response on the gas pedal, 6-speed manual...Looks great a real sleeper. Loads of trunk space when you lift up the cover in the trunk the spare tire space is almost the size of a small kiddie pool Plenty of room inside very comfortable to take on a long trip. The back seat has easy access to the trunk, if you were taking a long ride you could put coolers in the trunk near the back seat and reach them.
CONS: Some of the plastic interior is OK, my GMC pick-ups is better but it is not the worst and the engine and running gear far out way this slight negative. Decent stereo I will have check it out further later.

Sound rates right up there for me and standing at the back of the care I was disappointed. It is very soft like a kitten but when driving car has a soft rumble and really makes it for the lack of sound at the rear. I have been asked about modifications, I want to drive it for a while before I make any decisions but I do know the first item is to add gauges in the empty slot above the stereo!

Deb:
PROS:
Looks gorgeous, quick response when pressing gas especially in first and second gears, without intending, 2 times I laid a patch of rubber in town. Interior while I agree with my husband the seats are not as luxurious as our truck (surprising to me), they are actually better than some of the sports cars I have ridden. It would be comfortable to take on a long trip. I like the gadgets but have not had time to explore all of the options yet. I played my Creative Zen Mp3 most of the way home. Stereo has a good sound, it can be adjusted It DOES have Bluetooth, and my Sprint Instinct works well, the salesman said it was only compatible with Verizon but my Sprint phone does work! Verizon is not very widespread where we live. (By the way, I do love the Navigation on the Instinct and do not miss the lack of navigation on the car). However, GM’s website while it does not yet list the G8 GXP options, on the G5 it lists other carriers and their phones.
Here is the link to the GM site: http://www.gm.com/vc/bluetooth/index.jsp
(Written by Deb-the wife-hope it makes sense written quickly gotta go to work!)

Thanks for confirming the Bluetooth issue. Thanks also for that link to GM bluetooth which I have been to already. Funny how the G8 is not on that list. GM needs to get their ducks in a row sometime this year.

The salesman's comment was likely more pertaining to the OnStar phone tethering (using your Verizon account through OnStar, i.e. adding your vehicle number to your account.

Bluetooth should work with any bluetooth enabled phone.

N2G8GXP, is the manual transmission hard to drive smooth? Some cars with manual transmissions and decent power are jerky in the first few gears. Is the GXP the same or does the weight minimize that?

Thanks.

It depends on the driver, if you work the clutch & shifter smoothly it won't be jerky. There is probably a skip shift that only allows you to shift from first to fourth if the RPM's aren't high enough, just like most of the GM cars with a V8 and a 6-speed manual. You can buy a module that eliminates the skip shift or have it removed from the ECM.

While I appreciate your trying to help Drcustom I was kind of wanting N2G8GXP's opinion since he's driven the car. I know that it depends on the driver and the GXP does have skip shift and I do have the bypass for it already. I just wanted his/their opinion on how easy the car was to drive smooth.

Well to answer your questions
As Drcustomparts said it depends on the driver. However, as someone who has owned nothing but vehicles with manual transmissions, it is the smoothest I have ever driven. What I was the most impressed with is that most of the time when shifting you have that brief lag/loss of momentum when you press clutch and shift gears no matter how good you are, this one shifted almost like an automatic, very minimun loss of power. First modification will be is to add guages, any other mods will have to wait until I finish the rebuild of my 1995 Z-28 camaro recently changed it the LT-1 engine over to a 383 Stroker, rebuilt the transmission will take another month or two before I finish this project and then will think about mods.

Very cool, just wish gm had of done something very obvious to set the gt and gxp apart, from a distance only the wheels really seperate the two. I bet it runs like a bat out of hell with the 6 speed.

Unfortunately that is not our house, we stopped at our favorite cabins in the smokies on the way home. We live in a boring brick ranch BUT we don't drive boring cars! 2009 G8 GXP and 1995 Z28 Camaro
