Hi guys,
need some brainstorming help.

G8 was in moth balls late last year and went to start it this morning and it was dead to the world..

hooked up a jump and the electronics came back. but even waiting 5-10 minutes after the the source car was started, it wouldn't turn.

occasionally i got an "engine immobilized" note, but i would hit the unlock button and it would go away.

the car would click 1 to 4 times, but it would never turn.

is the battery THAT dead? or am i missing another problem?

thanks for any help.

Jeff

If you got a click its likely not security or anything like that. Battery flat fuct is my guess.

GET a NEW BATTERY! It's a 99.9% chance the old one is bad!

Stock battery? These batteries can't be left without a charge more than a couple weeks. I'm sure it's beyond the ability to charge. Should have just swapped batteries, to see if it would start. How much gas was left min it when it was put away?

I've gone through 2 OEM batteries and have 15k miles. I pull the ground now prior to prolonged storage to avoid total drainage

I still have the original stock battery..it still lives because of a battery tender. I definitely recommend using one if storing longer than a week or so.

Thanks guys.

The storage was longer than intended but next time I'll pull the neg anyway. And I use a battery tender when possible. I'll pull the battery and hook it to a charger for the night and go from there.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Still on my original battery too! Mine sits for a couple weeks at a time in the summer, and stored from mid November to late April early may. I've kept the ctek battery tender on it just when its stored.

Just a conclusion here if anyone was waiting.

I hooked the battery to a tender for a couple nights and put it back in. It had to work real hard but it started.

Car is at the dealer now for the airbag recall and they will check the battery too.

Thanks for the help.

This reminds me I never put the battery tender on.

I better do this now before I forget again.

Just 4 months short of 5 years on mine and 61,600 miles. Never put a charger on it or a battery tender. The OEM batteries are expensive for these cars, I think around 180.00 or so. I do still drive mine a few times a week and never sits for more then 4-5 days without hittin the pavement. We've had some mild winters the last couple years so no reason not to drive it. I'm sure a battery is in the future for next year for sure.

Multi US 7002 or Multi US 3300. I've used both with no issues.
