My fiance has an 07 Ion that all the sudden has had issues with the power steering. I check the fuse and it's fine. While driving along, you'll hear a small click from under the steering wheel, as if something has arced or turned off, indicator shows "PWR STR" and the wheel gets incredibly heavy. It's worse than not having power steering, it like the steering is working against you. The fluid level appears fine.. Once you turn the car off, the power steering will work for a bit of time and then you'll hear that click and steering goes dead again.. Is the pump going bad? Or is there a clog getting into the system? I've heard these steering systems are problematic. What am I looking at here? thanks!

These are electric power steering system, no fluid or nothing to clog, the electric motor cuts assist and that's what it covers. Just FYI, they will take care of it for you though.
