Hey Paul, quick question for you. Someone mentioned of a company making knockoffs of the Gts wheels. Any that you know of?

Also, any aftermarket companies making body parts over there? I'm aware of the Walkinshaw hoods, but anything else?

Not to speak for paul but there's some knock off bumpers etc (same with wheels) you can find on ebay.com.au . Not sure about fitment issues,quality etc though.

Yes, they are designed to go with the Gts front end. A bit on the radical side as well. Do a search for Walkinshaw hoods. I might end up with the red one they show when I do the front end conversion.

With the wheels....if the seller says "STYLE" in the ad, like "GTS STYLE", then that is code for Non-Genuine.

No I haven't heard anything yet.
Those are not the exact ones you want....just a close example.
Yours would need to be the VE edition which has different drillings.
Find out that guys location.
I could certainly help out if need be.

Yes.....but what some of these mobs are doing is making a VE rim and drilling the hub bore and lugnut bores to suit older cars (VX,VY,VZ).
You need a VE style rim with VE hub bore and VE lugnut bores/tapers.

They look to be about 1/2 price of the genuine VE HSV Clubsport R8 rims to buy......but all shipping costs will be the same. So in Total you're probably looking at US$1000 for knockoffs or US$1600 for genuine to your door by sea.

Also the genuine are 2x(19 X 8) & 2x(19 X 9.5) {stagerred}
His are probably 4x (19x8)

oh those scoops - yeah they do from what i've read :) (think they're like our 'nostrils' for letting the hot air out if I remember correctly)

What we really need is a full glass hood. Even a steel one without the current scoops so we could put cowl scoops on. Could fill the current scoops with bondo I guess???

If you filled them with bondo they would crack and break after so many hood closings.

Get someone that is good with metal and pull the scoops and and cut some sheet metal the shape of the holes and bend to the curve of the hood. A good body shop should be able to do something like this.

Aluminum filler might hold up better but yea, your way is best. Too pricey though.

Do a search on ebay.au and you will see they make some metal hoods with bigger scoops.

Yes but the genuine GTS rims are 20".
You want 19" rims.
So if you were to buy genuine you'd get the cheaper 19" Clubsport rims.

OK I have feedback from a guy who bought knockoffs or replica HSV rims off ebay.com.au
There are basically 2 versions getting about, made in China or made in Russia. The ones he bought were Russian.

The wheels were impossible to balance. The outer lips were not 100% parallel with the inner mounting pads. The rims are substantially lighter than the genuine rims and have very little actual wall thickness.
2 of his rims cracked internally a bit like this.
