hi all,

this is my 1st post in this forum..

i have what I believe you call Pontiac G8GT 6.0 V8..
we call it here Chev Lumina SS..

I need your advise on available mods (brands and vendors) for this car in sense of performance.

I am thinking of CAI, Headers, X-Pipe, Cams, UD Pulleys and custom tune..
i absolutely have no idea who provide these products.

thanks,
Khalid

You may want to contact Vector Motorsports. They can provide everything and a tune for it. Welcome to the site. I wish we had the Lumina SS here.

welcome! where are you at? You may be better buying HP tuners and having a tune e-mailed to you as shipping of the stock computers may be spendy!

Displacement on Demand. Runs on 4cyls when active basically. Nice, you already have a 6 spd.

not sure if our cars have it here in Saudi Arabia.

have a q:
how is the Roto-Fab is compared to a Ram-air intake?

The RotoFab is a great air intake. The Vararam is the only true Ram Air system. On a dyno I expect them to be close, but Ram Air makes it power while the car is moving, so I expect the gains to be better on the track with a Vararam.

if thats the case, i will with Roto-Fab.

what do you think of the best set of camshafts? VMS has more than one and I need to know which makes the best performance maintaining a decent daily driver.

Stage 1 cam would would good, but the results should be out shortly so we can see the gains.

Hi Khalid,

You've got the 6.0 L98, with manual 6 speed, which are both things the G8-GT did not get.

The L98 is an Holden 6.0 (GM in Australia) only designation. The term (L98) in USA is still used for an older & way different GM engine, so it will confuse there.

Basically the L-98 is the same as the G8-GT L76 engine but with different valley cover, lifters, and oil pump. You have no Displacement on Demand hardware or Software. All the V8 Holden VE Commodores run the L98 engine.

It's a confusing set of issues.
Yes you can use all the parts for a G8-GT.......except the camshafts which have been especially made for Displacement on Demand. ( ie the high and low lift pair you mentioned.)

As far as the tuning software goes, because you have the L98 and manual 6 speed, the requirements will be the same as a VE Holden SS Commodore.
If you check with the supplier and see that the software works with E38 computer and that car you should be fine.

[The tuning for the G8-GT with D.O.D. and Automatic A6 gearbox is way different]
