View Full Version : DashHawk showed some knock retard.
I did a WOT run today and had some spark retard reported at the shift points in 1st and second. It was about 1.1* at 1-2 ans 2.0* at 2-3.
Normal?

What brand gas are you using, and what were your intake temps at the time?

Intake temps of 85 shouldn't be an issue. Maybe you can do some logging and post it here, maybe someone can see why your having detonation to cause timing retard.

Use Sunoco. Shell has a higher ethanol content. With no air mods thats not too bad. It always pulls a little timing on shifts.
I have the DashHask log files but don't know to post them. I've sent them to VMS to see what they think.

Get the software for the Dashhawk. You can take a screen shot or save a jpeg, and post it here.

I could not find trans temp on my DH last night. I guess I need to upgrade?

Sunoco for the most part is garbage (no offense charlie) Try to use BP/Amoco, Shell and Mobil in that order. Also if you have questions about your tune please contact us DIRECTLY first. 1-2 degrees honestly is less than the stock tune in most cases, I wouldnt worry about it but if you have an FXP rental we can clean it up.

No offense. Shell is horrible here! I wish I had BP. I stick with Exxon 93 this far south.

You can get the trans sump temp through engineering mode. I believe my dashhawk picked it up.

Shell should be decent you have all the refineries LOL We have the best luck with BP/Amoco. Sunoco 94 is so additive heavy its actually worse than most other 93's I know.. strange LOL

Its in GM specific/Sensors.
Do NOT upgrade to 2.5 release version. It has a fairly large bug. Check dashhawk forum for link to beta 7.

When the whole thing with Ken went down the new software support sort of did as well. The good news is most of it is already in there, the bad news is stuff we were working on IE CVN reading to show the new stealth tune sadly will likely never be there.

Shell in this car and my Mach 1 cause an unstable idle and excessive knock retard. Dont know why other then the the E content.

You guys may get a slightly higher E-Content down there, like I said so far BP/Am have been the best all around but Exxon should be great as well I know you guys have refineries right there I think for almost everything!

Not my intent to offend, hope none taken. Before bothering you i wanted to know if the others with your tune and dashhawks see the same thing. I know from other cars I've tuned that some of this is normal. I sent VMS a zip file with some logs in it and can send more if you suggest parameters to log.
I'm thinking about another FXP rental down the road (no pun intended) and am like a kid with a new toy with my new dashHawk.
I know you have come under some heat with SOME people (not on this forum) disputing HP claims etc but my seat of the pants and now my DH 0-60 times show what I expected. Please do not take any of my questions as a negative comment about VMS. The guys on THIS forum understand so i didn't feel like i was casting doubt.

Ed,
You're fine. No one here even considered that your post was offensive to Vector in any way.

Ed, I wasnt referring to you, I was talking about a few posts over on Tech... Just getting really tired of "My car picked up x HP" But we never hear about it or get the chance to help them, all that does is make our product look bad but in reality it wasnt really being used as we intended it :\

Oh. OK thanks. I felt bad that I may have inadvertantly tarnished an outstanding vendor who products opened up a whole new world of fun for me.

Agreed! It's 11:00am and 72º right now... 83º for a high which is ODD as August is usually STUPID hot. It has been unseasonably cool this year...:)

Ok, why is Sunoco garbage? Keep in mind it's all I normally use.
PS,
My family owns a Sunoco A-Plus, so make it good.

The additive pack needed to get the 94 RON/MON rating is horrid for most performance applications, I know it makes no sense but of all the gas we've tested time and time again customers come back because of knock on Sun 94.

They still have 94 out there? All the East Coast stations have 93 as the top tier for octane.
87, 89, 91, 93 are our choices for the last few years.
VMS,
I sent the logs to you as attachments. Did you get them? Any feedback? Are these pretty much as you expected?
Thanks,
Ed
