Since I started driving my car again I've been hearing this whine that gets louder the more revs the engine is turning. At first I thought it was maybe a little speaker interference but with the stereo off it still makes it. My next though is its the power steering pump however I cant hear it at idle and the frequency doesnt seam right.

The only mechanical mods I have are a Roto Fab intake and a Faster Proms intake manifold.

Anyone?

The alternators on these cars tend to make a whining noise.

Fixed the title. My alt whines like crazy, even after I put on the UDP.

I have the same issue. Dealer told me they couldn't reproduce the problem, then told me it was "normal" when I took the shop foreman for a drive.

Yeah I forgot the "H" in the title, but I spelt it correctly in the thread so I'm only semi retarded.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

Mine does it too. It's just one of those things we probably have to live with. Atleast it lets you know it's working.

I have this very high pitched whine as well...It is very annoying when the radio is off. I know I can turn the radio on, but sometimes I just wanna hear the engine! Any ideas?

It's interesting that the Holdens don't have the problem.

Does anyone know if the GXP has the same problem?

I heard it at the dealer when I cranked one up.

Mine makes it too. I won't worry about a whine, unless it starts sounding like the bearing is going to fail.

It will be here tomorrow (Sat). I cant wait! It's coming by 'extra special delivery' with the go-to man himself, Andy!

I'm looking forward to meeting you Andy!

These guys at Livernois really go the extra mile (literally!) to ensure customer satisfaction.

I would not hesitate for a second to recommend them to my own mother or close relatives or anyone else.

Actually I think the Holdens do. Well at least mine does. It's not all that distressing or loud but I can certainly hear it a bit on the whining sound with the radio off.

The alts in these cars are pretty loud.. What i found is that the high pitched "noise" from the headlights and the RF interference from the alt combined are pretty damn loud together. I was able to "minimize" what was heard over the radio by doing a "Big 3" ground loop mod. It will not eliminate the noise, but it helps a little. Also turn off your headlights and see if the noise is a little quieter. The noise from the headlights bothers me more than the alt! :)

I hear a qt of blinker fluid will minimize any headlight noises:)

I have a wierd whine that comes from the passenger seat under hard acceleration every once in a while. Only tends to happen when the wife is in the car .
