I went by my dealer today to ask about an extended warranty. They guy who talked to me was saying that the factory warranty started when the car came off the assembly line. I said that he must be mistaken because warranties usually start when the car is purchased. Am I wrong here and GM is ripping us off by not starting our warranty when we purchase our car? Anyway, he offered me a 36 month $0 deductable for $890. I need to check back and see if that extends the bumper to bumper for another 3 years and if I can find a cheaper one somewhere.

Yeah, it starts when you buy it. Mileage included. My B2B warrantee expired at 36 months from date of purchase or 36,004 miles, powertrain at 5 years/100,004 miles.

If you have Onstar active, you can check the warranty expiration dates/mileage through them or online. Easy to find through the monthly status emails.

Warranty starts when you sign the papers. In some rare exceptions (dealer demo for example), the warranty usually starts when the car is put on the road so you would lose that time in the warranty period.

Thanks guys.... I just checked the OnStar email and my powertrain warranty is in effect until 9/13...the B to B has expired.

You need to report that SOB to GM.
