Yeah so I was parking in the grass next to a sidewalk and misjudged the levelness of the grass and my front right tire dipped down way too much and I hit the sidewalk with the front right of my bumper. It took the very thin paint right off. I'll post pictures when I get home from work but it does not look good.

I know you guys might want to see pictures first but what are my options?

Touch up or repaint it

that sucks man :( there are some very good airbrush guys out there and can make it look like new again! Much cheaper than traditional paint and look 10X better than touch up paint.

Welcome to the club!! My wife was backing out of the drive way and she did the same thing. The paint came right off!! My car is white so you can see it. Man was I steaming!! Few days later I come from work and she tells me she got rear ended.I said "did you get her insurance info?''. She said "no I didn't see any damage to the car so I told her it was ok." I said "there is always going to be damage either on the bumper or behind it!" Well, when I looked there was damage. The reflector on the driver's side above the exhaust tips is cracked and there is small paint damage. I dont even want to look under the bumper. I know whatever is under there it's crushed. :rant2:

It'll buff out. Someone was going to say it.
I think there are a few of us that need a repaint in that area. Maybe we can get a group buy going. LOL

Ouch. That sucks. I always end up parking two feet away from the curb because I'm scared of scraping the bumper.

Well you see what makes me pissed is I always back my car into a parking spot. But this time I had to parallel park on grass next to a (level looking) sidewalk.

Either live with or take it to a body shop. Be easy for them I expect.

you could mask off a line 3 to 4 in up from the bottom all the way around sand with 400 and paint the lower 3 to 4 in semi gloss Krylon black, touch ups will be easy then. a color to match the rear difuser would be perfect. I f you do a good job, only you will know. Then when someone pulls out in front of you, they can pay to have the body shop fix it.

Actually that's a pretty good idea. If you don't like your repair, you can always get your estimate to fix it.

I'm getting it checked out tomorrow. I will let you know what I do. Most people I know say it is not very noticable when you walk up to the car because the missing paint is more on the bottom side, but I see it every time I look at my car....it sticks out to my eyes.

Yea, I hear ya. I have a scratch on my trunk lid that's like that for me.

The bottom of my front spoiler is scraped too, but it was like that when I bought the car. It's looks like the previous owner scraped it on some parking curbs, but you really have to look hard to see it.

Hey Commodore, what ever happened. Someone did the same damn thing to my car. It was probably me since I drive it usually, but I sure don't remember hitting anything. I noticed it tonight. Not quite as big as your seems, but ugly just the same. What did you end up doing?

Maybe you could get the GXP front end. It might cost a little more but now you could have a reason to switch to the GXP bumper if you like it more than the GT bumper. If not, then you should be able to get the bumper repaired and painted for under $300.

Ugh... I did this very thing this morning. It makes me sick. Not quite as bad as Commodore's, but I notice it. I wasn't paying attention and I hear "scrrrrrappppe". I knew what it was right away.

Turns out no dealer carries the Stryker blue touch up stick in stock. Gonna have to wait a week and then carefully sand it a little and then touch it up. Not worth paying a couple of hundred for a shop to do it.

Man that sucks. I accidentally went over a curb at a McDonald's cuz I was in a hurry and missed my turn... was forced into the out of the McD's then was going out the very narrow in. lol So I didn't wanna be rude blocking it and got out in a hurry. Went over the curb... Got small curb rash on one wheel. It blows.

Hope you can get that taken care of with little trouble!

Ouch! In my area (Melbourne, FL), the dealerships tend to use independent painters to fix dings and scrapes on new and used cars. I've been impressed on how well they match the paint and how little they charge compared to body shops. You might try asking local dealerships who they use.

Ouch! Definately needs more than just touch up paint.

Mine isn't as bad as I previously thought. It is about 3 mm up from the edge of the lip and goes about 4 inches along the edge.

A little sanding and paint should cover up what little is visible.

I thought it was too. I had almost the exact same problem with mine, only mine being a bitch to paint match even using the VIN since its silver. after 2 failed attempts it went into a body shop, and got done simultaneously while the drivers side was fixed from being backed into by some jackass at work... (not bad, but OMG the headache). you'd never know it happened now to look at it, they did a damn good job.

I dropped mine onto a curb backing out of a driveway last week. Nothing on the sides, but theres a serious scrape on the bottom. CarCare wanted $400-$600 to drop the panel and repaint and advised I not worry about it since it's a daily driver with a low front end; it will likely happen again. Well, they're right about it not being worth it to fix it, but I'll be dammed if it happens again.
