LED light for ashtray

I'm going to try to rig up a little light for my ashtray. Plan to use an LED light meant for a license plate bolt. Has 2 wires, hot and ground. Would be real simple to hook up as always on but I'd really like it to dim with the dash lights. Anyone know a good place to tap into that would do that?

Im sure you can buy dimmers for them, however I don't know how you would tap into the stock dimmer.

Pretty sure all I need to do is find the hot wire for any dash light, radio, Atari gauges, etc, and tap into it. Trick is finding that I guess.

I like this idea... is this more of a soft effect you're going for?

My Dad's Z06 has an LED that shines down from the roof onto the center stack... it's a real nice effect.

Just a little glow would be perfect. Its totally dark there at night now.
