Hello all
I traded in my 350z for a G8 GT a couple weeks ago, and I still have a nice set of Bridgestone Blizzak winter tires in my garage I used last winter on the Z, 225/45/18's. My G8 has 245/45/18's all around right now (fresh set from the dealer but they are summer only). Can I use the Blizzaks this winter, or should I sell them and buy a new set of 245/45/18's? Aside from being slightly slimmer, I was not sure if the tires can handle the weight of the new car. They are: 4 Qty. 225/45R-18 BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK WS70. I appreciate your time, and thank you very much.

Probably not. They are 2 sizes smaller. There are tire size/load charts available on Tirerack.com and other sites. But slimmer tires for winter is the way to go as they bite down through the snow a whole lot better. Fatter tires float on top of the snow/slush.
Almost forgot, welcome! Where you located?

Considering the price of winter tires, you might as well give them a try. I paid almost a grand for a set of 245/45-18 Blizzak LM-25 on the stock 18" wheels. I don't drive the G during the the winter anymore, but it got around great, even in the deep stuff. There were a few people on here that did a 225 tire on a 17 inch rim for winter use and reported good results. Dry traction won't be great, but still should be good enough for normal driving with stability control on.

The load rating is on the tire. However, I don't see an issue with these working for you.
As long as you have all 4 tires.

I run 225/55R17s for my winter tires. Yours are close enough in overall height - they SHOULD be 50 profile, not 55, but it should be close enough for ABS to not hate you. My winter tires are also WS70s and they are AMAZING in the snow with this car.

You will be very, very pleased with snow performance in this car. I put a set of winter tires (Firestone Winterforce) on for the first time last winter and was shocked. Never once felt uncomfortable and we had a pretty heavy snowfall winter.

They are a little short, but you got'em. Do you drive a lot or is your transits short? The shorter tire will throw off the speedo and add miles you really are not traveling, but it is not much. 2.7% or 1.5 mph. A taller tire would be better, but it depends on whether it is worth it for you. I actually run a taller, skinnier tire for the winters that I ran mine.

I run 225's on my cheap after market 17x8 wheels. WS70's on back and 60's on front for now.

The 225/45R18 Blizzak WS70 has a max load of 1,356 lbs. The front axle on G8 GT rated for 2315 and the rears for 2815.
Both numbers reflect the maximum weight each axle can carry ; car fully loaded with fuel, passengers, cargo etc. We would not sell the 225/45R18 as it does not meet the load requirements for the rear axle, but from a practical standpoint you would have to really have the car loaded to the breaking point to have a load issue with the size. My other concern would be that the smaller diameter may affect the ABS or traction control systems, making them kick in too early or too late depending on the situation.
