Hey guys, I need a small assist here please. Would someone with a Dashhawk please set a parameter for trans temp (GM Specific/sensors/trans temp) and see what readings you are getting with the car warm and being run fairly hard.

Thanks!

I will check it tonite Tom. I will be doing some logging so we all know what effects the headers have on the ECM.

thanks Charlie. Our ambient temps should be similar. please be sure to do a few launches to 2 nd gear shift to "warm" it up good.

thanks Ray. Now what is that in real temperature??

197. OK, that's about average for mine during hard running but it will get hotter. I think with the cooler in the radiator its going to be hard to keep it below coolant temp. Trans cooler coming with converter in about 2 weeks.

Drive a TBSS like me and you'll see 215*F on the highway on hot days!

And I don't have a torque converter! doh!

I do have a tranny cooler----sitting in my Garage! HA!

DashHawk says between 175F - 220F depending on, well you know.

I am doing the Yank 3200 also & have been advised to get a LPD (low pressure drop) cooler. About the same $ as standard finned coolers, but cools much better, when it needs to. http://performanceparts.com/part.php?partID=2904 Apparently the Yank 3200 is smaller than the stock converter and needs a good cooler.

Go to Setup, GM options, PID temps, (I think), TRANS SUMP TEMP F. Maybe.....hell, I'm old...I can't remember sh*t! :p

I'm currently monitoring Intake air temp F
Engine coolant temp F
Engine oil temp F
And trannysump temp F

The Atari gage is fine for oil pressure... 3-4 bars + 35-55 psi.

If you scroll thru the CD that comes with the DHawk, 2 things will occur.

1 - You will be amazed at what that little bugger can tell you. (Way more than you ever want to know).
2 - You will soon find yourself with eyes unfocused off into space with the 1000 yd stare. Be careful here. My wife thought I was dead and almost called the coroner. :p

You can also check trans temp in engineering mode, for those of us too cheap/poor to buy a dashhawk.

My wedding's in just over 2 weeks. I wonder if it's too late to set up a gift registry at Vector?

This is a handy little converter I use in the business. It's freeware and will convert just about anything including lightspeed to 0-60. :p

That's right. Josh Madison wrote it. I thought it was such a nice piece of freeware I sent Josh a contribution awhile back. When I find a truly useful shareware or freeware program, I often send them $.

Bill Gates gets millions of dollars for total crap and these guys give it away. They gotta have a reason to write more of the good stuff. Billy Gates sure won't.

Here in Microsoft land we respect Billy so much that the current price for his head on a platter is up to $843,292.19 and climbing. :p
Tax free of course!
