I took the G8 down a back road and brake torqued it, once I got the wheels spinning quickly and noticed the posi gave out and only 1 wheel was spinning, this is the same as what happens with my '06 GTO.
Is this normal because when you get on it normal it leaves 2 black marks, but if you get the wheels spinning real fast it goes to 1 wheel, the GTO does the identical thing.

What do you mean by 'wheels spinning real fast'? I've never lost a wheel while still in first gear but have never tried to keep the burn out going into 2nd gear...

I've burned first through second gear into third, both wheels spun greatly and equally.

Sounds like your diff is going.

I think it is because you are at a too high of latitude.

I brake torqued it until the wheels broke loose then let the brake off while it is held in 1st gear, once the posi let loose the RPM's shot to 5k, I probably spun 10 feet until it let loose (same as my GTO).
The G8 only has 10k miles on it.

That's quite a burn-out! I tried it out today...nice spin in first (in Sport Mode), in second it kept going strong, once I hit third it couldn't keep going so tried to down shift and got VERY angry at me. I won't be trying that again...

I was told that both tires were spinning until part way through second when my right tire started to skip (didn't feel it inside though). Maybe the posi just can't handle us idiots spinning the tires up to 65MPH!

It is a common problem when you are north of, say, I-40, lol!

Sound like your stability control might have kick in. IE it braked one wheel.

maybe not. but seems odd. MY gto at 80K miles stared doing 1 wheel donuts but never 1 wheel straight line burnouts.

Maybe you need to change the oil.

I am in Los Angles with the G8 right now, maybe at this elevation it will be better LOL, I was at the Salt and Sea which is below sea level should have tried a burnout in the 112F temperature there.

A few people have had that problem followed by an axle snapping.
