Ok I don't know the first thing about RC cars but I bought one of these cause I like Holden V8 Supercars. I think the battery is pretty common and should be able to find an extra one at a local hobby shop along with a charger. Any thoughts about this new toy. BTW I don't plan on racing anyone I have a long and wide paved drive to play with it on.

RC Cars were a drug earlier in my life. During college I was practicing three days a week and racing twice a week. I had several cars, lots of parts, tools, etc... I even had a motor dyno and tuned my "stock" motors to provide the desired torque/RPM for given track layouts. I also sold quite a few custom painted bodies on eBay. Fortunately (?) I've moved-on from RC Cars and now put my effort into my G8.
Cool car/body there! You should be able to find a battery pack/charger that will work. Talk with someone at a hobby shop... you can change the connectors on the battery packs (I didn't use any... since they added a little extra resistance... and direct soldered the packs into the car for each run). The only thing that might be difficult is finding cells that match, but a hobby shop will be able to figure that out for you.

I use to race. Won a bunch in '06 and '07 then someone bought them from me in '07 at an event I swept. That is pretty cool. I did gas powered though. That battery style is very common. Should be able to pick up a battery pack at Target even.

In '02 was racing 1/10 electric On-Road (asphalt) at the (old) SoCal RC Speedway. It was very cool to be driving on the same track as the people who designed the car you are driving (Kinwald, Easton, etc.). Seeing the new cars in development, buying ex-factory parts, etc made for an exciting time. My entire trunk was full of toolboxes (cars/parts/tools), so any day could turn into a day at the track. Having all my classes on Tuesday/Thursday (zero on M, W, or F) really helped!

I actually owned the RC race track in downtown nashville for 3 years. It's still there, but when I left they didn't keep the hobby shop. Hobby Lobby (not the arts and crafts store in the boro) in Brentwood or Hobby Town USA should be able to help you out locally. That car line I've never heard of though. For "touring cars," most people run XRAY, Corally, or Associated. They have a cheaper class that runs spec tires and usually old bodies i.e. 69 camaro's etc. Your car could probably run with that class if you have any interest.
I ran touring and 12th scale competitively. I traveled all over the US racing at national events with several sponsors. I got burnt out though and then got married which killed it almost completely. LOL I still race locally in 2wd offroad buggy every couple of months.

I have a peak charger I can sell you. I haven't used it in years. Had a lot of fun with my son as we raced in the school parking lots. You're going to buy an additional battery and switch batteries as you have some fun.
Try not to hit any curbs with the front tires. :)
LOL, I still have the Team Losi JR buggy.

Kinwald and Easton are still racing. Heck even Joel Johnson came out of retirement and is racing at the roar onroad nationals this weekend.

Haha, it's in good shape too. Ironically there are still a couple guys making parts for those things. BTW, I used to live about 2 miles from LOSI in Chino.

Don't waste you time with nicad or ni-mh batteries.. The new craze are lithium ion batteries and brushless motors. The combination makes an electric car competitive with the nitros. At the least research li-ion and the necessary charger. I have couple old brushed cars I put the li-ion packs in and they rip! Do your homework before buying though these batteries as they are somewhat cantankerous. But the charging and discharging procedure is worth the fun as run times can be three times or more of traditional batteries.

I used to race 1/10 nitro on-road locally. Got out of the sport when I got older. Got a T-Maxx to tool around with and have since stepped up to my latest. Its a 1/5 size gas powered beast. Way easy to tune and fun as hell. Not too cheap though as the base model is around $1000.

I raced 1/10 offroad buggy and truggy ele. Mainly with an rc-10 alum bottom, then a B-4 and B-44, and now my kids race 1/18 offroad 4wd with a brushless lip-o pack. It run about 65ish wide open. I used to race with a team driver named Frosty in the Houston area. Lots of fun!!!!

Pretty cool now I found this car http://www.linpin.ca/18385.html how am I going to be able to buy this one too without my girlfriend knowing? I just bought this Holden brochure and a Holden beach towel and and I’ve found 4 magazines (back issues) that I got off EBay with reviews of the G8...but then again I love these cars!

...I still have the Team Losi JR buggy.
Is it a JRX2? I had one of those and a JRXT about 20 years ago. I loved the x2. So much fun! Still have the XT in pieces in the basement. I believe the electronics still work, but the suspension & wheels are toast.

Wow someone else had a LOSI. NOBODY near me in college owned a LOSI and I had a Double X Worlds edition 1/10 scale buggy.
I still have it. Oh and I have a NI CAD charger if anyone wants it, all you pay is the shipping to you.
I now have a Assocatied TC3 that I am rigging to play with. I am looking for a HOLDEN body for it though. I can't seem to find one easily though.
Would love to put a UTE or a Commodore Bathurst body on it.

Awesome!
I can't wait until my kid is old enough to tinker with this stuff. It will give me a chance to re-live the days! Who knows what I'll be buying him in 7-8 years.

8th electric 4wd buggy is awesome. It's actually faster than nitro buggies now. I had a Losi 8ight 2.0 last year.
exesivefire I doubt anyone on this forum can top my RC spending in the past 10 years so don't feel bad LOL. I've stepped away from it after I got married mostly due to time. Did you race in OH? I have several friends that race up there.

If you want, I'll bring it to the National meet and we can haggle on a price. :)
