Total cost was about 65.00.....

I have also been playing w/ the exhaust......I am not ready to invest 700 or so until I can hear it in person....

Nice work. That will hold you until Vararam comes out. I too am waiting. I am their modded test car, so I really am anxious!

Sooo, ummm, details? What did you make the intake out of and what exactly did you do to the exhaust?

It's A G8!

That looks good! Are those no hub band?

That looks really good. I've been a bit shocked at some of the prices I've seen for basic aftermarket mods for these cars.

I have to admit that I am a bit spoiled though, as my recent experience has been foxbody Mustangs, where pretty much everything is cheap until major mods come into play.

I ordered a 90 degree and a 45 degree 4" mandrel pipe from velocityair.cc ..reasonable priced. And some no hub band (plumbing supplies @ Lowes) and started cutting. The outlet side of the MAF is alot smaller, I just happened to have some old Spectre reducer spacers that fit perfectly. So that the 4" pipe would match up....

After I made it found some spray paint I had left from the HAT and did it up......

The exhaust I just had all the muffler, resinators, removed and put a Thrush Turbo muffler at the end....$135.00 total. the inside of the car is still pretty quiet.

Oh yea,,,, The small air line that was connected to the factory intake tube, I rerouted and if you look in the bottom left corner in the picture you will see a chrome circle that is the top of a small valve cover breather that i put on the end

When you vent the crankcase to atmosphere when it had been originally going into the intake post-MAF your fuel trims will usually need to be dialed back in. Of course doing the CAI itself will require your STFT's and WOT AFR's dialed back in as well. Just a suggestion but if you want to get the most out of that mod I suggest a custom tune to recalibrate everything together.

I am working on getting a local tune, by a GM tuner here in town......still checking them out. They are promising me 30 to 40 rwhp when they get done. They have worked on alot of LT1s and said they have done a G8 GT....

Nice CAI, what type, brand , size, filter did you use? Where did you get it?

Can you bolt the stock mufflers back on for long road trips?

Well you Jinxed me...lol, I threw two codes today. After speaking with Charlie it is most likey the crankcase line that I self vented....so I will have to tap it back in after the MAF.

Well now that I have a tune with my homebrew cai......unless varram can show better whp and tq with just a tune, I will most likely stick to my creation and spend the 400.00 elsewhere like towards a tq converter.

That's a nice intake, specially for the amount you have into it, but I'd be concerned with it drawing in hot air during the summer months. The fans pull a lot of heat out of the radiator, and the filter is right there to suck it in.
