View Full Version : bluetooth and XM quit
Struggle

Today while wife was driving the car the bluetooth will acknowledge a call but then turn the radio back on and cycle back and forth on its own.
All the XM stuff dissappeared. We have lifetime subscription to the service as well as on our other vehicle and the issue appears related to the G8 only.
Rapped on the radio a couple of times and it went to voice by itself. I cannot access on bluetooth functions.
Wife said earlier the bluetooth worked normal and now this:uhm:
I unplugged the XM box and plugged it back in and for a split second the XM channels showed up and then dissapeared and said XM not available.
Also noticed grease on the sunroof center outside when I closed it today. Not sure if related to anything
Car is still under warranty but our dealer is no good. It was taken in last week for ball joints as the car has wandered for months and the said no issues found. I chewed them out and said you need to send you techs back to school as I personally lifted the car before hand and found the drivers side ball joint very loose as the wheel would pull in and out. They ordered parts for the complete kit to do both sides I was told.

Was yours factory Bluetooth or did you get the VCIM change out? Sounds like its the box and not the radio head unit. Good luck with the Dealership.

I was having issues with trying to get my bluetooth to work once I got the upgraded OnStar box and it turned out to be a bad connection behind the head unit (radio). That might be worth a look see.

It is factory bluetooth. I am going to try and see if the dealer can take a look at it tomorrow.
I drove it tonight and when I push the button for voice on the steering wheel it will flash voice on the radio and then the radio goes back to playing station. It will do this two more times on its own. It used to say bluetooth ready or something like that also and now it says nothing.
It is acting like it is no longer bluetooth cabable or XM capable.
A/C controls and everything else operates as normal.
It really would'nt bother me that much for warranty but the dealer I had to jump down their throat about the ball joints and now I am nervous about dealing with them.
When I worked at the Crhysler dealership as a tech we would often get their jeep repairs that they could not fix but that was ten years ago so hopefully they can get it fixed.
Also all the disc we had in the radio all ejected normally. If I had more time I would pull the radio out myself and still might tomorrow if it is not too bad to get out to check connections if the dealer cannot look at it.

If the dealer gives you shit call and complain to their corporate office .. I'm so sick of GM. They have the worst customer service and dealers known to man!
That is all I hear on the forums lately is that the dealer doesn't want to do this or help with that etc etc.. Im on my 3rd dealer. this is why the government should have let them go belly up!
Next American car I purchase = Ford

We have a chevy dealer near by as well but they scratched our Tahoe while replacing an emblem and messed up the dash controls (did not reinstall properly) so I am hesitant to take it to them as well. Kind of out of options beyond that as I don't want to drive 100 miles away to another dealer.
I called today to the dealer that has parts on order for the LCAs and they said Monday morning to look at it. I might pull the radio myself and see if somethign came unplugged.
Can I access the plugs from a side cover on the glove box side?

If you check this section of the forum, I believe that someone posted instructions on the wiring, removal of radio, diagrams, complete with pics and perhaps video. Watch the side pieces of the center console, easy to break and a bitch to reinstall.

It seems I saw someone post how to get the side panels off. It is going in on Monday so I am going to let them wreck it the first round ( I am taking it in and waiting on site for it). Then I will have to clean up there mess. Could make the national news if they screw it up.

Car is still at the dealership. They put a new control arm kit on and now the caster is out of specification. I talked the tech into hopefully replacing the strut bearing bushings. They are up what seems quite high and this could affect caster I am sure. Anyone else have this issue being the caster being off. I will ask in the suspension thread.
The Blue tooth and sat radio is back working though. I talked to the tech as they walked me back there and tech said it was LOGIC locked...what ever that means. Sounds like cummunication problems. Disconnected the battery and reconnected it and all is back to normal. We just got new phones so I am wondering if this could be an issue. I deleted the old ones. Tech questioned if the car has been jump started, which it has not. A few times the car seems to turn over just a tad slow so he was going to load test the battery.
