Edit--***NOTE**** Steps 9 & 16 in the Holden instructions refer to Fuse Position F8.
On Pontiac G8 the position F8 is already being used by Onstar.
You'll have to select one of the available SPARE locations to insert your red wire into the back of the fusebox & insert the provided fuse into the matching fuse location in the front of the fusebox.

Thanks to Travis for the pics.

I just ran mine right off the battery with an in line fuse. I wanted mine to be hot even if the car was not running.

it is a pretty easy install. the only issue I had was when removing the piece in step 2. I broke it. No big deal but there are 4 clips that hold it in. I pulled to much on one side a split the plastic where the cut out is for the trunk latch. Also (on mine) the 4 pieces are not fur clips they actually thread in to remove the rear trim panel. I still have these photos on my camera. I will try to upload these pics tonight.

I have the glove box ready to go back in after installing the light and switch. Another easy install and will post photos as well. thanks CP for another grrrr8 part for the G8

still "blows my mind" GM didn't give us 2009 owners a glove box light. I would be curious the real reason why? Great deals Paul...I'm having a hard time resisting the trunk outlet!

Back to the top dusty old thread!

Finished the trunk power socket a few weeks ago. Looks great, was an easy install except for one mistake I made.. Glad I added for another place to plug my cooler in.

One interesting thing I discovered, I wondered how sturdy the mount would be but as you can see in my picture our battery cage has a round hole for the socket.

Also here is a view on where I put the template if it helps.

..and the mistake I made, do not press together all the socket pieces before inserting through the trim and into the hole in the battery cage.

You have to put the trim ring and plastic piece though the hole hold it in its final place then push in together, the metal outlet which locks everything together.

Great purchase.. I recommend as a nice little upgrade.
