Help me to understand, and if this has been addressed already I guess I missed it. I would like to know what the difference between a catted ARH and non-catted is.
Are there significant gains/losses in HP/TQ between the two? (obviously either option will open the flow)
Doesn't each state require cats on new vehicles (not like paw prints you find on the hood in the am), if not how would I find out what Oregon's requirements are?

Federal law requires cats on a new vehicle sold in the US.

If George gets the 427, can the sleigh hold an LSX 454 also? I have been a fairly good boy Santa.

I'd probably "hook Santa up" for either of those too. :puke:

I can't speak for ARH because we have only installed a few set, but I know the Kooks cat's maybe reduce power by .1%. That 750+ rwhp ZO6 clone we did made 3 hp more by removing that cats...

Technically, that's .004%

I realize :D but on most cars it seems to be ~3 hp, whether they are 370 (random number) or higher... it makes no sense to the engineer side of me...

If you want to be legal, or even close, yes. Now we don't have inspections but that could change. I went with the catted system.

If the difference was huge, say 30hp, I might be tempted to go cat-less. But 3-5hp? There is just no sense.

I like fresh air, so using cats is a simple decision.

Wow.. Cats don't seem to effect these engines much.. On my previous car, taking off the cat was a night and day experience..

Cats are federal, thus taking them off is a federal offense. With that, people (and shops) take them off all the time for customers. With the high flow cats there is really no reason not to have them.

In states like Florida where we don't have inspections, taking off the cats is done a lot because of the higher cost of buying the high flow cats.
