The tire gets its name from the fusion of two existing tires: the NT01, Nitto’s D.O.T.-approved R-compound, and the NT555, Nitto’s popular UHP tire. The name signifies that the tire is based on the NT01’s award-winning race technology but designed specifically for maximum street performance.

Cypress, CA (PRWEB) November 4, 2008 -- Nitto Tire U.S.A., Inc., announces the release of its new summer max performance tire, the NT05. The NT05 is Nitto’s most aggressive non-competition street tire.

Nitto’s top priority was to optimize dry performance. To achieve this, Nitto’s engineers used the most advanced computer simulation and extensive on-track testing to identify the optimal tread design and compound. The large, continuous center rib and big outer shoulder blocks provide optimum tread contact with the road and the reinforced tread blocks provide exceptional rigidity and stability. These tread features help provide crisp turn-in, excellent steering feedback, and stability under braking; all of which contribute to boosting driver confidence. The result is a tire that responds instantly to your steering, acceleration and braking inputs, inspiring confidence and keeping you connected to the road.

The NT05 will be available in the most popular sizes for high-performance vehicles. Several sizes will be available first quarter 2009 with additional sizes released throughout the year.

I wonder how well it will do at the strip? I see they have a couple of 19" versions! That's good news.
