View Full Version : Badge/Decal Removal

Very simple, main thing is not to harm the paint, it is soft and will scratch.

Step 1. Use a credit card, plastic puddy knife, or 20 lb fishing line to remove the double stick tape on the back of the Decals of your choice. The only one to leave is the badge on the front bumper (holes behind).

Step 2. Use WD-40 with a microfiber towel or just your thumb (careful of nails) and wipe any left over tape off.

Step 3. Apply and remove your favorite wax after wiping off any WD-40 residue.

Step 4. Take a picture and post it here!

has anyone attempted taking off the front badge? I have a replacement for it, but curious if it is just as easy as the rest of the badges. . .

No/Yes. It does have 2 holes behind it. I am having them as well as license plate holes filled this fall. It is double sided tape from what I can find out.

I can't find any specifics on the front arrowhead; only that it has pegs into the fascia. Maybe you can look inside the fascia and tell how it's attached?

I know my new Camaro will be Black!

Black is hands down (for me) the way to go! It's more difficult to keep clean and shows dust really easy, especially out here in the desert, but when its clean, it looks sweet. The new Camaro blacked out...........watch out! It'll look soooooooo mean.

Update. Due to poor materials they had to redo the design and are using higher quality materials now. That said, they also had to raise the price by $60. I had to bow out. $100 for badges? negative.

Hey, anyone figure out what's involved to take off the front badge? I need to get my front bumper painted and would like to either reuse the badge, or fill in the holes. The dealer told me they would likely have to buy another badge to put on and I don't feel like spending $80+ on a new badge. I've already debadged some other stuff, but is there anything else holding this sucker on besides the adhesive?

It has 2 "prongs" for lack of a better term, and I think it just pops in and out of the holes in your bumper.

Put a thin flat head screwdriver into a glove or wrap with microfiber towel, and try prying it up gently.

Not so easy, here are some badges I think might it might be possible to work with.

The HOLDEN letters could be the ones from the VL-Calais or the HOLDEN BY DESIGN could either go on top to cover the two holes.

For the botton part, maybe the small HOLDEN LION badge 47mm, the HSV wheel cover or the bonnet badge. I found this nice Australian Emblem, if I could only know the correct dimensions it would look awesome on the front of the G8.

Im not very good with photoshop, maybe some of you could work something up. keep me posted !

the small holden lion would be very nice. You will likely need to have the holes filled and then find a way to attach it.

I got rid of the chiclets and the "Pontiac" and "GT" lettering on the trunk lid.

I think I am going to order either CTS-V emblems or Holden V emblems to put on the front fenders and trunk lid

I did the same thing a few months ago... except I left the pontiac letters on the rear. In case you're wondering how the V and V8 badges look:

From : www.brisbanetimes.com.au

Holden has released a special edition Commodore with a front end borrowed from the defunct Pontiac G8.

It’s a Commodore but not as we know it.

Holden has released the first Commodore in its history that doesn’t wear the company’s lion logo.

The new SS V-Series Special Edition range borrows the aggressive nose of the now-defunct Pontiac G8, complete with the American brand’s signature bonnet vents and “twin-nostril” grille.

Holden denies it was left with a large supply of Pontiac bonnets after the company lost a billion-dollar export deal that involved shipping Commodores to the United States and re-badging them as Pontiacs.

The new SS V-Series range is available in sedan, wagon and ute guises and comes standard with Holden’s V8 engine.

Drive has been told that Holden has ordered dealers not to discount the special editions, but Holden spokeswoman Kate Lonsdale strenuously denies this claim.

"Under no circumstances does Holden request its dealers not to discount vehicles, parts or services. Dealers are free to negotiate prices with customers on any Holden vehicle including the SS V-Series Special Edition," she says.

But while it is trying to preserve the resale value of the SS-V Series vehicles, it is already offering special deals on its newly-released range of six-cylinder Commodores.

Holden claims the “International” special editions have $7500 worth of extras over the normal models, including leather seat trim and 18-inch alloy wheels.

But the car is now just $35,990 for the sedan ($37,990 for the wagon), which represents a price cut of more than $10,000.

Holden Director of Marketing Philip Brook said the Pontiac nose, minus the Holden badge, was designed to turn heads.

“SS V-Series has always been about sports performance and ultimate road presence. Now we’ve dialled it up even further,” he said.

Apart from the front end, the sedan variant of the SS V-Series gets a decklid spoiler and chrome highlights.

The special editions go on sale in November and will be available in three colours – Phantom black, Red Hot and Voodoo blue.

Prices start at $47,490 for the manual version of the SS V-Series ute, $55,290 for the manual sedan and $57,290 for the manual Sportwagon. Automatic transmission is $2000 extra.

Meanwhile, the new “International” edition includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a revised front grille borrowed from the more upmarket Berlina model, leather seat trim and steering wheel, Bluetooth connection, badging and a rear parking sensor on the sedan model.

The arrow caps pop out from the back side of the center cap. Should be an easy swap IMO.
