hey guys, im looking for a new set of mufflers for this year.i want something really agressive, loud and deep sounding. ive narrowed it down to spintech or pypes violators. my last setup was straight pipes(which sounded great to me, but a tad to loud). Has anybody here heard both? ive never heard either in person but have watched alot of youtube :)
im cammed with headers, xpipe and no cats
if you have one or the other i would really like your opinions on how you like your setup, or if theres something else you think i might like let me know.
not looking for common mufflers like kooks, flowies, and magnaflows.

I have the Pypes. Wife doesn't like driving the car with them on, but I think they are reasonable. A friend has a Corvette with bi-mode exhaust and his car is definitely louder above ~3k rpms.
Edit: I have otherwise stock exhaust. I believe your car would have less cabin noise than mine due to x pipe. I do get a bit of drone, but it is at particular speeds.

so how do you like them? in videos it seems kinda high pitched, is it like that in person?

I'm not cammed and I feel like most of my issues with how the pypes sound at lower rpm's might be cured with a cam. I think they sound amazing at WOT but down low and at idle not so much. At WOT, they scream though, it's a more "modern" sound I guess. It certainly wont be mistaken for a muscle car with flowmasters. So loud and aggressive, absolutely. Deep ehhhhh.

I wouldn't say there is much high pitched noise as heard in the vids from the exhaust on my stock set up, but hondakiller's perspective is what I'd trust based on your mods. I think headers and a x pipe make a big difference on how these sound. A friend has a G8 w/headers & x pipe. We put my Pypes on his car and it sounded much more aggressive under throttle. He is a member here, it would be interesting if he chimes in.
I'll say that when I have stock axle backs on my car, I can start the car in the garage (detached) and it is not audible from the house. When I start the car in the garage w/Pypes, you can feel the car running from inside the house, as well as hear it a bit.

I am in MI with Spintechs on my GXP.
I like them more than the magnaflows I had. Both are nice but I wanted a more aggressive sound.
More than welcome to check them out after the car is out of storage.

I have pypes with dt tri ys no cat and they are deep some drone but not bad x pipe will cure the cabin noise. I did a topic in exhaust section for everyone to post up their videos of exhaust set ups I know most computer speaker don't do it justice but at least you get an idea and maybe some one local might have set up so you can hear it.http://Forum.grrrr8.net/showthread.php?t=23719

my neighbors called the city on me because my car was so loud with the straight pipees. are they REALLY loud?

My neighbors are not car people, in fact I'd say they are mostly green types and they have yet to complain. In fact the most green of them all gave me a compliment on the car. So long as you aren't driving aggressively in the neighborhood, I doubt there would be any issues.
If you are driving the car at odd hours on a regular basis, maybe there are better exhausts. I'd say Magna-flow's would be abrasive if you drove to work at 3am daily.

I have a header system that has mufflers and some ARH headers where i could bolt on any axle back. Torn between the two.

$399 aluminized if I recall and the stainless are 500 or 600? I will only buy stainless if possible unless it is a classic car then a cheaper system will do the job most often....but if/when I replace the current systems I would still go stainless.
