I dont like how they have white backgrounds when the rest of the stock gauges are all black background. Other than that, I like em

I'd be cool if all gauges were white faced, but when they don't match it looks a little goofy to me. Though about anything is better than the bright red glow of the Atari gauge...

If you are willing to do some fairly minor wiring and pay for additional gauges ( yes...I know this can get a bit expensive! ) the gauges can easily be replaced with Autometer SportComp II gauges which are almost a perfect match for the factory gauge cluster in the car now ( assuming you don't have the red face gauges ) and have nearly the same needles and back lighting. These are 2 1/16 in. and fit the binnacle perfectly. I have already replaced the white faced gauges with these and they look fantastic! The gauges come with senders ( do not order the mechanical gauges....use the electrical gauges for safety ). Granted......this does leave the obvious question as to what to do with the white face gauges. I will admit....no one said this would be an inexpensive mod. Am going to begin the install process shortly. Just waiting for the other parts to arrive from Au. Will post a pic. of the gauges shortly.

I think if I can get a pod I could design oil/volt/trans temp and make a harness. I did it on Mustangs. The pod with no gauges is the issue.

I did notice the HSV pod had this octagonal shaped "jesus box" attached to the back of the gauges.

For plug and play it would be needed, but if I am using all new sending units it could be wired up.

Arrrrrr yes, totally old school.

You'll need to piggyback a few sensors then.

Here's a good metric M16x 1.5 Tee for a 1/8 NPT oil sender:
Pt No TP-12

You can adjust the orientation of the 1/8" outlet (away from the intake) by skimming the bottom face or using a different thickness crush washer.

No.
With the new stereo surround (tower) you can have:
1) 1/2 size cubby with a 12V outlet
2) Full size cubby with no 12V outlet
3) Original Pontiac cubby that hangs out 3/4" too far

J Wikoff
02-11-2009, 09:28 PM
You can keep the original lower cubby, but it does move towards the shifter about an inch. Still assembles properly though. Right now, I've got the original still in.

Thanks, B.

There's currently a set of the gauges in the For Sale section for $325

Then you need either 31A for $230
or
31B for $265
