Are there other options for a code reader/CEL reset other than the Dash Hawk? Had to reset my CEL via the battery disconnect and brake methold but would rather have a code reader/reset as my OBD II reader doest work with the G8. Thaks in advance for any input.

If your code reader does not have CAN capabilities you can not read or clear codes. When looking to purchase make sure it has CAN.

I had a code that the Dashawk interpreted as unknown. As such it would not/could not reset it. Is there another way of resetting the CELs (besides the dealer)? I keep reading about a battery disconnect, but...

You can disconnect battery. Just dont leave the key in the ignition.

My Auto Xray works quite well. Have not yet updated it for this year, though.
