Took the G8 to the stealership today and they recommended a fuel tune. Is this easy to do? Does anyone have some tips and tricks to do this? Thanks in advance!

WTF is a fuel tune? Surely the dealer didn't really mean a 'tune'? Injector cleaning maybe?

Ya I guess. Travis said maybe the TB and injectors maybe. They wrote fuel tune on the inspection sheet.

I would personally "run" from a dealer that said "fuel tune"..... There is no reason you need to do anything related to this especially from a dealership.... RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

then they are probably good.. maybe their description was a bit off...... or someone who didnt take time in describing what you really need.... or maybe it is the slang down there... :)..... I would be interested in what they mean by it though.... out of curiosity.. and why they suggest it.....

I had this mentioned to me from my old dealer because my car sat a lot. Personally think it was bullsht.
My new dealer said its not necessary and I would be better off just adding some B&G 44K or like Wreckwriter stated the Chevron Techron fuel additive to a full tank of gas.

Anthony, Travis and I don't talk to the service writers. We deal directly with the Service manager Jamey.
Also, next time you go in, Erik Hess is the only tech that works on your car. Make sure you tell them.

Just talked to the guys up at the dealership and they said what they mean by a fuel tune is cleaning the TB, injectors, and fuel lines, etc. With some kind of acid stuff. First of all I don't like the word acid and going into the car at all. So I think I will just stick with the chevron stuff!

Sounds like they are just trying to make money off of you. I wouldn't let them touch it.

Wreckwriter hit the nail on the head. Run some Techron through it every 20k miles or better yet just buy good gas and forget about it - Top Tier Gas web site (http://www.toptiergas.com) - I've also found that never letting the gauge get below a quarter tank before fill-up helps as well.
Modern EFI fuel systems are pretty resilient if you stay away from cheap gas and don't run your cars down to fumes. I'd recommend saving your money for something important.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and state that unless you've got 100k miles on your car and/or the previous owner loaded her up with kerosene on a regular basis, you're fine.
Run some Techron through the next tank then forget about it. You'll sleep better :)

Chevron Techron fuel additive Is THE best stuff period. Other forum lists I have been on only recommended Techron additive, it worked wonders for me one time too. I run a tank full of the stuff at every change of the season, run top tier fuel, never let below 1/2 tank, and I dont sissy the car, I get on the highway quite frquently to just "Clean it out"
as my Dad used to say hee heh

BTW I saw where in the Gulf war both a Abrams M1a1 tank and a Apache chopter both ran Kerosene in an emergency and made it back to base.....However I would not even attempt in the G8 I would get out and walk....

Those are jet engines. Jet fuel is just highly refined kerosene :)

We're surrounded by Chevron/Texaco/Shell/Exxon in my neck of the woods... makes life easy. I'm tuned for "up to" 10% Ethanol so I tend to just go to the local Exxon and load up on premium.

What goes in your tank has little to do with build up in your induction system. Just FYI.
If you run a catch can then there will be less build up, but the LS engines recirc a bit of oil... So you want to clean that carbon from the TB and intake. Also, doing that often will keep it clean and smooth

Yea, I use Exxon now too.
