The wife's car needs new tires and I am amazed at the lack of options. Right now it has Goodyear Fortera HL, they were ok, she got about 36k out of them. The only other option is the Hancook Ventas AS. I guess 255/65/18 is a weird size...

I pluggedin a 265/65/18 into tire rack and I get 19 results, everything from offroad to highway. My question is, can I safely run a slightly wider tire to get more options? Recommend a size or a tire :)

I think if you go to a 265/60.18 you should be ok. Otherwise the tire gets taller. Dunno if that's a real size though. You should look around, when I was at Gm I could find those forterras for 99$ a piece.

Another option, you can go to the dealership or firestone location and try to get them prorated. (if they are evenly worn). I forget if they are 50 or 60k mile tires.

Thanks for the advise. My made up size was .5" taller, yours was .5" shorter... I guess I can always change it in the computer with efilive :)
I am not a fan of the fortera's and was looking for something with more of a street tread. She could care less...
Thanks!

Tire racks web site will give you the overall height on the specs page.

Discount Tire lists the 275/60-18 as a plus zero size that will work on your SUV. The show a few more tires available. You won't even see the .1" difference in the diameter. Tire Rack shows thirteen choices but two of those are snow tires.

Thank you for the size, fortunately no need for snow tires here :)
The way I look at it (the mod bug) if you have to replace it, you might as well get a better one!

I went through the exact same issue with my wife's Acadia (also an 08). The guys at Discount Tire recommended going with the Michelin Latitude (255-60-19) as that is the tire that comes stock on the Enclave. We have had them on for about 6 months now and really like them. They ride super nice but are a little spendy. Good luck.

We can guarantee 255/65-18, 265/60-18 or 275/60-18. I use the Bridgestone Dueler HL Alenza on my wife's Envoy and have had very good results

Might be a good idea to go over to the acadia forum and see what others have done.

I belong to the Enclave forum (spin off of Acadia forum) since my wife drives one. I bought ours from our company after our VP of sales drove it for a couple of years. He had 75,000 on the stock tires before switching to the Goodyears we have now. They're 19" so not sure if they make the same in 18.

I have Hankooks on my F150 and LOVE them. My parents 2011 Explorer came with Hankooks too.

A side note: 98,600 miles and going strong!

Excellent, thank you for all of the good ideas. I found a good deal on the stock Fortera's (at the Tirerack approved shop who mounted my spare tire).
So, we are going to get the stock tires again. Thanks!
