Guess I'll keep my new 3.45 diff in the crate a while longer - easier to install on a bench.
From Eaton: Detroit Truetrac was the first unit available to the aftermarket featuring a fully automatic gear-type limited-slip design (no clutch or friction plates). The helical gear design provides quiet and smooth operation while transferring the most torque to the wheel with the best traction. This universal product will provide traction in off-road, drag racing and street performance vehicles without affecting handling for everyday street use.

You would think Eaton would have one out now since Harrop has had one out for a long time since these cars have been in Australia for years.

I wonder why they don't say it fits a 3.27 ratio gear set. Maybe the pinion gear is too big or the ring gear is too small in a 3.27?

I saw that you sell them for the G8, will it work in the camaro diff with 3.45's?

The Harrop TT will fit the G8 8.3" diff but not the Camaro 8.6" diff.

Correct as George has said.

The Harrop TT for the G8 that I bought from GFORCE works GRRRR8. No more peg legs.

What exactly does a True Trac change in the diff that avoids the one legged burnouts....also, any other benefits?

No clutch packs like the standard G8/Camaro diff

Gotcha, so the reason these wont have peg leg burnouts is because there are no clutch packs to wear out by doing a lot of burnouts. Other than that, the performance is the same...

Edmanet would be able to comment on it more... I've run his car several times at the track and have occasionally noticed a unlock clunk while turning onto the return road..
IMO if you do not track your car a lot it's not a necessary mod

If that was true I sure would not lay out my cash for a Truetrac.
A conventional differential (stock G8) splits torque equally to both wheels. During acceleration, if one wheel gets less traction and starts to slip, the diff splits equal torque to each wheel and just keeps on smoking the poor traction side. The only feature to help is a preloaded clutch pack that can transmit a little torque across the diff to compensate for uneven traction. There is a tiny amount of clutch preload torque compared to axle launch torque, so if traction at each wheel differs by more than the clutch preload torque - poof! - up in smoke on one side with a "peg leg" burnout. All too common. This uneven speed also toasts the clutch pack.
The Truetrac differential works similar to a conventional differential but can drive both wheels at the same speed with uneven traction. The maximum ratio of torque or traction imbalance is defined by the Torque Bias Ratio which is about 3 to 1. This means that one side of the differential can drive up to three times harder than the other, sending the most torque to the wheel with the most traction. During acceleration under typical uneven traction conditions, as long as the higher traction side can handle the higher torque, no wheelspin will occur. If traction limits are exceeded both wheels will spin. Only when one side has at least three times less traction can you get a "peg leg" burnout.

The all important question now is the price. Being that is for the popular Camaro, will it be less than the G8 TrueTrac. Popular models
go from $420 to $520. Could we be so lucky?

FRan said clunk on turn is normal depending on speed and sharpness of turn. I hear it occasionally on the street.

Okay, a really stupid question. For those of us that may want to keep stock 2.92, will it work with that, or would it just be wasted money? I'm installing Procharger (hiding it in the shop from my wife right now, shhhhh!), ordering ARH LT's and torque convertor. Should I need the TruTrac with this setup?

If you planned on going to the track a lot then yes I would get one. And it will work with all the GT/GXP diffs -- 2.92, 3.27, and 3.70

This is true for the smaller truetrac diff from Harrop in the G8 center section, not the new unit for the larger Camaro 3.45 & 3.70 center section.

Just wrapping my head around what I'm gonna have to spend on the car if I keep it. My friend says it will only quit if I sell the car.
I wont lie tho. Your video of the 11.128 gives me a woody.

Lets see axles are $1600, truetrac is $999, and maybe a driveshaft for $1200.
