Where the heck do I find a passenger side wiper blade for my G8 without going to a dealer? I've tried 3 diff auto parts stores.

At the dealer...lol. Some people buy one an inch bigger and deal with it. I just got mine at the dealer for $11.

ive tried 4 different brands of blades-3 out of 4 of them will fit a 16 instead of a 15 without touching eachother...pep boys are the cheapest store brand that worked great!

I bought the Valeo's from Amazon last year and they were great for a couple of months, but then they started to skip across the windshield like the stock blades did. I'm pretty sure it's not the blades fault, just the driver's side wiper arm is at a weird angle.

Thanx for the replies. I guess I'll have to order one. I just couldn't find the the short one with that goofy clip system they use.

exactly.I solved this problem back in the spring 08' and had a thread.take the "Z" bar part of the wiper arm and turn it clockwise to get a more even to the glass angle(use a cloth for anti scratch purposes and an adjustible wrench on the flat steel arm and twist. works grrrr8

Yesterday I installed a set of SilBLade wiper blades. I should say I installed one. They have the same blade in all sizes so I was able to order a matching set in 26 and 15. However only the 26 came with the proper push tab adapter. I called and they are sending me the adapter sets for the 15, and were sorry to have omitted them. imagine that.
Meanwhile I know they are a touch expense. However I had a set on my GTO for over 4 years without any issues. Out in sun, heat, and getting ice on them. I will see how they do on the G8 but I suspect I will get similar results. making them well worth the money in the long run. as they are cheaper than 2 sets of any other wipers.
I should have the other one on this week.

I just heard about Silblades yesterday... How much were they?

I think I paid something like $68 for both. Going from memory. They are more expensive that the comparable shaped Valeo, or even the PIAA ones. These are also the aero-foil shaped, thin strip springs like the OEM ones. but with a silicon-carbon blade.
this is the version I got (http://www.silblade.com/Flex-Blade_c_8.html)
Again, not cheap but they do have a warranty for 5 years. I got most of that with my first set on the GTO.

LOL. I'm still on the stock blades too.
So did you get the uniblade or the flexblade? I'm also in the market for a blade that will work with this oddball setup and last. My poor wipers have been screwed by this drought.

They're different part numbers to the usual ones here, and your prices are already quite good.
I've been thru the entire list of service parts and can't see anything except cabin filters that are worth doing in bulk.

well inflation, cost of oil, changes in the shapes, you need like 5 different fittings to fit most cars on the road. etc etc.
And what I got I readily admit are not cheap replacement wipers. I am going on the limb thinking that I will get more than 4 years out of them with DD duty. I have never gotten more than a year to year and a half out of bosch, or valeo, or other replacements on any car I've owned. I blame the heat and cold cycles and the ice we get.
I got over 4 years on my first silblades.
BTW, the link should take you to the Flexblade page, which is what I got. they look almost exactly like stockers. however they do sit up a touch higher. I must say it will be noticable. not distracting really, but you will see it.
So far, so good. Oh and I clayed my windows when I put them on. Just to get a very clean surface. Yes I used an old piece of clay bar. don't use a new piece.

right. You can only get new blades most places, and blades are all different. I think the issue started when several different refill blade widths were introduced. Folks were buying NR refills for standard blades, shit got all confused. The answer was to make everyone buy new blades!!!
Redonkulous!

well that and the using refils over and over but never replacing the sprung blades and getting tired of complaints that wipers don't work right, when the blade springs wouldn't hold. Look at how much flex is in the blades on this car. the long one especially. to conform and hold to the curve of the windshield.

I have had great luck with the Goodyear blades from Costco, $7.99 each and they are the high quality blades, made in the USA as well.
Unfortunately, they don't have the smaller size required...I should find a local goodyear dealer for one.
Or, buy some from a GM dealer / PACE...

I have had these on the car for about 3 weeks. First, I had to wait for Sil Blade to send me the correct adapters as they were not in the package. These adapters are all plastic and snap into a plastic clip on the wiper itself. I go to wash the car this past weekend, lift the driver's side wiper arm up, and the blade falls off. I take a look at it and the plastic clip on the blade itself is broken. The window to return them to Amazon has closed. Sil Blade claims they have a 5 year warranty. I call them up. I have to provide proof of purchase and $11 shipping and handling. I told her I could get the OEMs for that. She didn't budge. I will be throwing a brand new set of blades in the trash.
I will order an OEM set from Greg (what I should have done to begin with). I got four years out of the first set. Live and learn, right?

Amazon has them at a good price, but.....
Just like Napalm, my 26" came with the proper push tab adapter and fits great, the 15" version did not include the proper tab for install. This makes my second attempt to get the 15" with proper tabs (have a feeling they sent me the same damn wiper twice in a row lol).
So looks like I'll be buying a cheap blade for the passenger side, they don't need to see anyways.

I ordered and installed the Valeo blade replacements from Amazon. They work well (no gaps / streaks and fit perfectly):
Valeo 900-15-7B All-Season ULTIMATE Wiper Blade, OE Replacement - 15" - US$ 14.75
Valeo 900-26-7B All-Season ULTIMATE Wiper Blade, OE Replacement - 26" - US$ 18.89
These plus Rain-X have made my life much easier, rain or bugs.

Damn I completely forgot to update this.
DO NOT EVER BUY SILBLADES FOR YOUR G8!!!
They can't get their damn adapters together for the shorter blade. I argued for 20 minutes on the phone with then over the fact that the 15 won't fit due to the adapter. They tried to tell me no car produced has a 15 on the front window and that size is only for rear SUV windows.
SMURF EM. I ended up with a set of trico force flex (or whatever) from Oriely. Got a rebate that made the set 12 dollars.
I'm sorry if anyone else bought some of these.

You put the force flex units on yet? I was browsing all the blade catalogs at the autostore and those Tricos were the only ones that listed a passenger side. How did they fit?

I called and spoke to silblade directly when I ordered mine. I requested the type of adapter I needed. They sent me a whole pack of adapters instead of guessing.
My only disappointment is that the center of the driver blade doesn't touch the glass on the downstroke. It leaves a streak right in my field of vision. Trico is the only driver side blade that didn't streak, but they have an annoying noise when the blade flips.

I just put mine on also. I must be used to imports as these have an odd mounting system. But I figured it out. Yes, they are huge in the middle. Haven't had them out in the rain yet. But both sides are exact fit.
I thought they had a rebate going and they did but you'd had to have bought them before March 13th. ugh
Jeff92se
04-16-2012, 01:22 PM
Just a small update. These were very easy to intall (although very diff than the imports I'm used to) and I've used in them in the rain a few times.
No streaks, noisy flap over or does the D-side leave an unswept area anywhere in the wipe zone.
How they continue to perform over the lift of the wiper is another story but so far, so good.

A good tip to increasing the life of your wipers is to get an old t shirt and some rubbing alcohol.
Apply some alcohol to the rag and pinch the wiper blade in between your fingers with the alcohol soaked rag in between and slide down it. The rag will turn black, that is good. It get the crap off of it and cleans off the dried rubber. Do this about 4 times with decent pressure using a clean part of the rag each time.
I did mine last night and they work much better.

I usually get one side at Costco, and get the OE for the smaller one. Same type, and nice Goodyear made in the USA piece at Costco for $8.
I find Rain X helps wiper blade life as well. Keeps stuff from sticking. I have used an old clay bar on the window as well.
I have a set or two of OE blades sitting as spares just to have. Never know...

RockAuto is a vendor on the RAM forum I'm on and they had a SICK price on Trico replacements and I bought up. I bought them for 3 vehicles and paid 70 bucks... 6 blades for 70 bucks is pretty good. The Enclave has HUGE blades!
I paid between $3.83 and $14.19 for them. Shipping was STUPID high, but it was still 20 bucks less than buying them from www.wipers123.com where I usually buy them.
Trico makes the OEM blades on the G8 and Enclave I believe so they look and work perfect.
