How do you get the tail lights off? Is it difficult?

Yeah, it's a quick project. They pop right out after disconnecting the wiring and pulling the nuts off.

That's funny right there.

Shit. I can't get them out. Nuts are off, they come out about 1/4 inch then stop. something is holding them.

I had to pop them with my hand a couple of times to get them to break free. It is just 3 bolts and the plug.

Thanks - I have some on order right now so will be doing the same thing next week. How many coats did you apply to get that shade? I do not want to black out and will be targeting a layer similar to yours. I had black out tint on my lights but got a fix it ticket from the police. I took it off and have not been happy since so I figured I would push my luck again with something lighter to not draw so much attention. Did you scuff the surface with anything before applying the tint layer or between the tint and clear coat layer. Looks like the finish of the clear is matte vs glossy. Is that true or just the way the photos came out? I have seen others online that look shiny after the clear coat. Sorry for the questions - just want to achieve something decent. Good job with yours.

3 coats nite shades, 3 coats clear. Looks mat because I did not buff it. Probably won't, kinda like it this way. Did not scuff, just cleaned with alcohol.

I dont know what Cali law is but I've been pulled over tons for my tail lights and every time I walk away with just a stern "talking to". Texas law says that if you have visible reflectors on the rear (ours are right above the exhaust tips) and your break lights are visible from at least 200 ft. at night then you are technically within the law. I bring that up every time and the cops aren't quite sure of what the actual law says, but they think it's "dangerous". Meh maybe...
