A buddy of mine at work has a 1997 M3 3.2L, pretty much stock, and he's been calling me out ever since he got it. I think it should be a great race from what I've been reading they do 0-60 in about 5.2 second and a 1/4 mile in the mid to low 13's.

It'll be a good value run.
I'd have to think that you'd probably do him though.
The BMW isn't fresh anymore so isn't as likely to be as close to factory claims anymore, if it's stock that is.

Race him from a dead stop. Momentum alone should guarantee a win.

So yeah... about this... I dunno what you guys are thinking of... but the M3s from then were 240hp... Good for 0-60 in around 6 seconds brand new... That thing doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell. They're porky little cars too at around 3200 pounds for being so small. They're really not that fast, and if it's not in perfect condition they lose power quickly.

The fast M3s didn't come out until 2000, when they received a bump to 330ish hp.

Yeah I did some more research and the North American version only had 240HP 3.2, its the Euro version that had 300+.

Weak.
