So I've got about 5k saved up for mods. My goals for the car are
1. Daily driveability although I have options in bad weather.
2a. Better sounding exhaust
2b. fast enough to continue beating my boss's 2010 Mustang GT even if he puts a little blower on it.
3. Don't break anything

So I'm thinking I have a couple of options and can get to the 420-430 HP mark with this much. So far I have a Vararam, tune, and uninstalled magna flow catback.

Headers/cam or Maggie? I could maybe install the Maggie but I don't think I could do a cam. I need to include any install costs in the total.

Ideas?

Maggie for sure!

Once you get blown you won't want the shaft anymore :)
If I can install one, I'm sure you can!

I have to agree on the Maggie, I am biased though.

No one is more biased than I am, except maybe my boss :)

That's what I thought. So far I can't find one under 6k. If I could get one cheaper and do the work myself I would try it. But for cost sake I might go headers and cam.

procharger

I have no experience with a procharger. I talked to the guys at Livernois when I was there and they were pretty impressed with how they performed on the Camaros they have done. I don't know anyone around here though that can give me info.

Tell me more please. Easier or harder to install compared to a 1900? Other mods required? I will begin searching now.

Might catch a maggie slightly used for quite a bit less...seen a few around the 'net...

Headers and a cam, there's nothing that sounds better than that.

I would say headers, cam, TC and a little suspension work. It all depends on how much you are going to install on your own. I hate paying for labor.

I'm waiting on a quote from a local shop now for the kooks and ls7 comp cam. I will see where that puts me. I don't mind paying for labor when it is beyond my skill to install. Time is so limited for me with travel and coaching kids sports. So I will get the details on the quote and the look for some input here on the specs and details.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but I HIGHLY recommend that you have Pat G spec you a cam. You list drivability as one of your requirements... nothing will meet those needs, YOUR needs better than a custom camshaft. You can then have the cam ground to those specs and have your local shop do the rest of the work. Trust me, it's worth the $$ and more.

Do the H/C and a set of LT headers. Maybe you could also find a 3.45 Camaro Diff if you have enough money left over. Then save a little more and add a stall if you want. Of course I may be biased, but stoplight to stoplght you better bring your A-Game if you're going run down that setup.

I'm def going h/c now. Talking with Patrick G on some options. Really trying to decide if I can labor myself but need to figure out how to get a tune afterwards. I don't think I'll be happy with the VMS knowing that so much more is possible. If I had to decide today it would be a custom cam with the local guys doing the install and tune. So I am close. Nervous but close.

2nd the cam route, as a blower is too expensive and buying one used is... shady.

Cam, exhaust and tune work should be pretty much 5 grand and put you into the mid 400WHP range.
