I needed a car that gets better mileage, so this is what I bought.

I like your G8 better....

I understand though, because now they're saying that gas could get up to $5/ gallon by the end of 2012. I sure hope that isn't true, because then I'd probably have to go out and buy me a DD that was better on gas. $5/gallon would put me around $300/month in gas. Ouch.

I don't drive my G8 to work. I was driving the Silverado. It's getting 17 mpg. This gets 38.

How do you like it so far? I sat in one at the ford dealer when getting the stang and they seemed decent for the price and excellent mileage.

Look at all the wheel gap, it needs bigger wheels & tires. I'm not feeling the girlie design on the seats either.

Looks pretty good for an inexpensive car. Won't it drive you nuts to take 10-15 seconds to get to highway speeds?

It's a 2011 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback. I looked for one with a 5 speed manual instead of the new power shift 6 speed auto.
I wanted SYNC and cruise control. So I had to find one with rapid spec 203A.
There were not a lot of 5 speeds with Sync, so color choice was out for me. That included the seat colors. Since for the most part I'm the only one that's going to be in it, it doesn't bother me.
I so far have only driven it in town, a total of 4 miles, so no real review yet. The clutch pedal is soft as butter, and the electric assist steering makes turning at a stop way too easy.
I wanted a Ford for simply because when I spend time in the engine plant, I want to be able to park close. It's a long walk if you are driving something else, not to mention how big the plants are.
James, I spend 5 to 6 hours behind the wheel, the 10 seconds it takes to get on the interstate won't be an issue.
I still own a faster car, and a truck with a v-8.
Don, a Ford dealer in Wisconsin sells a Ford lowering kit that comes with springs and shocks/struts that will lower the car. $220 plus shipping. Karen is against that idea right now. She said save my money and put it into the red car. :D Smart woman.

Ray I was just messin with you about the wheel gap. You're better off putting the money into the G8.

I agree with the wheel gap, I didn't think the seats looked girlie though. LOL My wife would hit you for that statement. LOL

I'm not a fan of print pattern on seats, that's why I called them girlie. 2 tone seats are ok but they look silly with any kind of print on them.

How do you like the SYNC system? When I first saw this I thought it was a joke (like the Juke one a while back), but since it is in your driveway it must be real. Nice cheap DD for someone who travels like you do.

Just starting to learn the SYNC system. Found on another forum there is a hidden usb under the dash. SYNC lady calls it USB2. iPod or usb hdd can go in the glove box out of sight.
I'm going to spend sometime today getting all my mp's onto a thumb drive and test it in usb1.

Looks pretty nice G8 Ray. Do you guys ever watch the european version of Top Gear? They had a fuel economy "race" between a diesel volkswagen, subaru, and jaguar. They averaged between 53-80 mpg in these cars doing mostly highway driving.

I'm a Ford guy at heart and I REALLY like the new Fiesta. Great MPG and the sync system as well, albeit a bit dumbed down. Overall a great car IMO.

Congrats!

What mods do you have planed for the new car? Headers, new Corsa Exhaust, maybe a CAI. I bet the car is fun to zip around in. Ford makes some nice cars.

I plugged a flash drive in it with my mp3's. LOL I talked to the boss about getting the handling package for it and she told me to use the money for the G8. I'll be driving it to the Pittsburg area tomorrow so we'll see what kind of gas mileage it gets.

Does it have HID's? If not that's a nice upgrade.

No. I've never had HID's in any vehicle I've driven.

I actually have a plan for my 19's this Spring. As soon as I get the rest of the stuff done. I still need two GTO spares to get my 19's off though.

If you've ever driven a car with HID's you'll never want to drive a car without them ever again. The visibility at night is unreal, specially when it's raining. That was the first thing I did to my car, and after my wife drove it at nite she insisted that I put them in her minivan.

First road trip in the Ford. 397 miles, Indy to Pittsburg. One tank of gas. 39.7 mpg according to the dash. I'll calculate it when I fill up.

Ended up being 10.05 gallons. 39.5 mpg exactly what the dic said. $31 to drive 400 miles.

Took the Fiesta in for it's 1st service. 5085 miles in 6 weeks. Almost 100 miles a day since I bought it. Avg mileage is 37.6
When I took it to the dealer the DIC was showing 40.2 mpg.
Rear speakers sound like crap. Dealer is investigating and agree something is wrong.
