Just picked up 4 new Potenza RE760 Sports, wont be putting them to use until the spring but im wondering if anyone has ever tried these tires out. A couple local people said they had good luck with them. I am hoping they are pretty sticky and that I can get a couple summers out of them if i take it "easy" lol

yes, I have them. They seem just as sticky as the stock RE050A's. The sidewalls are more vertical than the stockers, and I believe the a little stiffer too. Definitely a nice tire!!! I don't have enough power to overcome them at the strip from a dead stop, but it looks like you do! Best of luck, report how they hold up to your power plz. :)

Yea I was checking those out too, let us know how they work out for straight line performance and wet driving...

I will definately post my review on them when spring comes... I can tell they are going to be pretty sticky just by how soft they are. They have a good treadwear rating 340 I believe it was and temp rating of A

I am hoping for a good boost in traction from the stock a/s haha

I had the older versions of the 760's on my Formula. While they are a decent trade off from a flat out ultra high performance tire the sidewall will not be as stiff and the rubber not as grippy as the 050's.

They are on my short list of tires I'm considering when I do my Camaro 20's.

The RE760 is marketed as "one step down" the performance ladder from the OE Potenza RE050, with grip at the limit decreased in favor of more durablilty. While we did not do a "head to head" test between the two, we did test the tire against similar offerings from other brands;

I have put about 1500km's on the tires so far, they seem to handle excellent..... however thats where the good seems to end. I can see considerable wear after only 1500km's which even for a performance summer tire does not impress me. Also today was my first day driving it in the rain on the highway, I was supposed to drive to New Hampshire (anyone from that around ill be there tomorrow instead) but 30 mins into the drive I had to turn back. It was raining light out just enough to have a film of water on the road and all it wanted to do it hydroplane at 100km/h which I have never had a tire that bad before.

I think I might see if the dealer I bought them from will warranty the tires, not impressed at all. They would make a great road coarse race tire but thats it.

What does that convert to miles? My first set of stock Potenzas I got almost 55,000 miles out of them and they did great in rain towards the end. My second set now has 25,000 miles on them and still have 6/32 on them so I think they will go another 50,000+.

I put about 1000 miles on them so far, so not much lol.

I looked around a bit today since I couldnt go on my trip and think I might have found part of the problem.. it seems to alignment it out on the car and its making the rear tires wear funny, this could also have a bit to do with its performance in the rain. I am going to take it into the dealer tuesday and get it re aligned and see if it solves it. I might have jumped hastealy to blame the tires, part of being annoyed about delaying my drive!

When I had my new set of Potenzas on I gave them the settings from Crazy Paul and they set it up to those and the car has been perfect. The guy at the Chevy store said they were just a bit different than what was programed in the alignment machine.

Search alignment specs and take that to the dealer and have them set it up that way. I have been very happy with Crazy Pauls/Holdens specs. The tires are very good in the rain and after you get her set up I think you will be a happy Canadiaheh.

Oh by the way the transmission dip stick is GRRRR8, thanks.

Good to hear texn!

Put the car on the alignment machine tonight and the rear toe is out 7/8"... buddy couldn't believe it. I have proven that my car had an incredibly shitty PDI, hole in the gas tank, way out of alignment, trans fluid low, diff fluid low.. god knows what else ill find. Should know tomorrow if my dealer will pay to replace the tires, they better.. no way a new car should be out of alignment when I drive it off the lot.

By the way I took the trip on Sunday instead, ended up in Rhode Island and drove back in the same day... 1600km's and 19 hours of driving in 1 day and the cammed G8 held up like a champ. Other then the tires which are now completely bald to the point there is no tread on the outside and not even close to the wear bars yet on the inside of the tire. Ended up having to take the drive anyway, glad I didn't have to drive any farther.

i just installed there760's last week. I am down by about 2.5 mpg from the RE050's. That really sucks, but so far they ride nice. No rain yet here in Florida.

loving my RE 760 Sports. sizes as listed in sig. very quiet on the highway, and quite sticky on pavement north of 18 degrees Celsius. they seem decent in regular rain, but haven't had any deep water experience with them yet. very satisfied so far with about 1000 km's on them. they did get noticeably better with some mileage on them.

how is straight line performance? Both my stock summers and the GY Eagle Gt's when new I could floor my car in the rain and it would just go....I compare all other tires to them, my favorite tire of all time was the Firestone SZ-50's, the tread pattern was just V's one under the other all the way around, did not look like it would be good in anything, but the rubber itself was the key, everyone with a Regal Gs or GTP grabbed them up, tirerack put a sell em out sale on them for like 45 bucks each, I alone grabbed 6, others filled their garages with them. Best tire ever.

Straight line performance of them is great, seem very sticky and im sure if a person heated them up a tiny bit would be plenty to hook a stock or slightly modded G8 very well.

My car was on the alignment rack for a couple hours today at the dealer, they got the toe where it needs to be but it threw the camber way out and they cannot get enough adjustment in the camber to get it right. They started talking about doing some grinding and I suggested they best make a couple phone called and make sure the parts in the car are correct before even considering that. Something is way out of wack and im without my car till its figured out! :loser: I am just going to let them do their thing to try and get it covered through warranty... if they fail ill do it myself, my dealership blows.

Why would your MPG go down with these tires verses the Re050's?

Why would your MPG go down with these tires verses the Re050's?

Brand new tire at full tread depth is a little heavier than a tire that is near the wear bars, so that may affect MPG

they are covering the tires, I was surprised I didnt have to yell and throw things either!

Remind me where you live again and what this dealership is called so I know never to go there?

At least they are covering them. Any other word on issues?

No idea what the issue was, just was not alligned from the factory I would say. They managed to get it alligned, I never got into details with them as to if they ground anything or if GM had a fix but I plan to when I go up to swap tires... the person that did the work on it was busy so I never got a chance to talk to him yet. I might take a look tonight and see if they did any grinding though so I know before I talk to him.

Or maybe your right foot is a bit more heavy now with the new ground grippers on the car? lol

I should take one off and take a picture of it just to show how uneven the wear is.. its unbelieveable
