Hi Guys,

I need your advice, I'm about to buy the Borla Cat-back system and I would like to hear what Borla owners think about their exhaust. Is it too loud for the morning? Are they more prone to drone than Magnaflows?
I've heard a few Solo systems and I don't think it's what I'm looking for. The ones I've heard are either too loud or too quiet. I think I'm just sold on the Borla sound.

Thanks
Cody

Absolutely love it. Can't wait to make mine louder with headers in the Spring. I LOVE the cold, morning starts.

More prone to drone than Magnaflow? I don't think I've ever heard that said about Borla compared to Magnaflow.
My buddy, Monty, has the Magnaflow. The Borla is louder as far as catback to catback. Now that he has shorty headers and Solo high flow cats, his sounds really good now - cats made a big difference to the Magnaflow sound.

Corsa sounds mean on start-up and Rev but quieter than the Borla everywhere in between. Corsa will have no drone. Magnaflow will have some drone. Borla "drone"/sound will be somewhere in the middle.

My Borla sounds excellent at WOT. On YouTube, check out JimmyTT6's video for G8 GT with Borla and Kooks headers. Awesome sound!!!

I hope I gave you some info to think about.

If you want quiet, Borla is not for you. If you want strong sound without excessive drone, Borla is for you. If you want strong sound with ZERO drone, Corsa might be for you. If you want very good sound with some drone, Magnaflow might be for you.

I like mine. Was considering going with Corsa.
As far has comparing them to Magnaflow .. I don't. ..Better quality all around with Borla.
As for the Drone .. well yeah I can say the Borla drones with AFM on. When you go into manual mode it just sounds like it should IMO.
Magnaflows are a lot worse IMO when it starts to drone ..very annoying drone.

I also plan on doing headers in the spring. It will make the Borla more of what the car should sound like. Cannot wait.

I love my Borla, only questions I have is.. are you going to get a tune? If so do you mind turning off the AFM?
If you don't want to turn off the AFM then don't get Borla..I will be honest it sound like shit when the AFM turns on.
If you want to keep crappy AFM on then get a Corsa or Solo....just my 2cents

here a quick vid of Borla with Kooks headers..sorry about flip flop noise in beginning..lol

Sounds goo Jimmy. Funny how your Borla sounds very similar to the Solo systems via online video. In person they sound slightly different. Both are deep American V8 while the Corsa has a higher sounding exhaust note. One thing is for certain, Borla has the best looking dual tips! As Jimmy mentioned the Borla does drone. I've been in 2 cars with the Borla setup and both drone on the highway. With AFM disabled the Borla setup is definitely more tolerable, but if your sensitive to drone it will most likely still bother you. The Borla is between a Solo Mach Unbalanced and a Solo Mach Shorty Balanced in overall volume. The Borla is louder inside the car. The Solo axle backs sound almost identical to the Borla. Both sound fantastic. One thing of note is not all G8's behave the same with exhausts. Some are more prone to drone than others. There is also a Magnaflow muffler that Patrick G recommends that is drone free. It's a huge one though.

What are your overall plans for the exhaust system as a whole? It's all really a matter of preference, but as others have already mentioned... if you're particularly sensitive to drone and you're sticking with the AFM... then the Borla is probably not for you. The Borla in my set up (GXP LS3 + OEM manifolds + Borla Catback) does not drone since I don't have to deal with AFM.

I'm jealous! Should have gotten a GXP.

If I were to do it over again, I'd get Kooks LT / X and then a axelback. But since I got the Borla Catback first, I had to go with Kooks Mids.

However, the HP difference probalby isn't all that much.

Now, back to Borla....I think it is the best sounding CBE out there. I have AFM tuned out, so that part doesn't bother me.

Oh, any my neighbor says every morning when he hears me start my car at 6am, he gets a boner.
