I had an appointment at Discount Tire to get winter tires on my car (will get new wheels and non-winter tires in the soring).

Alas, it was one day after what was in reality a light snow, but for Seattle was SNOWMAGEDDON. The appointment was good to have: wait times for walk-ins: 8 hours. LOL.

All I can say is this: the OEM tires are useless in the snow and ice. USELESS. I was barely able to escape my cul de sac. Luckily the main surface streets were well sanded.

So I have blizack lm60s on there now. Even on wet snow free streets they are vastly superior to the OEM garbage.

Looking forward to new wheels and decent all season shoes in the spring.

The G8 has proven to be a good car in the snow, given you have proper tires. The same cannot be said of the STI with the OEM summer tires I saw in the ditch. LOL.

I live in Olympia and my Blizzak WS-60s did awesome in the snow and ice that we had down here.

Since we had our first real snow of the season yesterday, I decided it was time to put on the winter tires. I have Michelin Alpines mounted on 17", 7 spoke wheels with TPMS.
Size is 225/55-17 they are 84.9" in circumference and 26.7 in" in diameter. They are less than 0.1% different in size than the 245/40-19 Summer Bridgestones. The amazing thing
is, other than the great grip in the snow, the ride is much softer than the summer tires.

Snow tires are amazing they are worth the investment for sure. I drove a mustang mach 1 before the g8. It had snow tires on it and I used to laugh as I passed people in suvs and trucks who slid off the road because they were "invincible". Just a suggestion in the spring get some high performance summer tires and you will love the traction they have.

That's the sidewall, I notice how much softer my ride is with my Michelin X-Ices compared to the stock Goodyears in 18" size.

And yeah, winter snow/ice tires are great on these cars. Never got stuck with them, never so much as lost traction like I always did with the Goodyear RSAs in snow.

Yeah, I agree, the 55 aspect ratio is much more forgiving the the 40 aspect on the 19" Bridgestones.
I had Goodyear RSA's on my last Pontaic SSEi and got rid of them real quick. The front end wouldn't turn a corner, only plow. Replaced those with Pirelli P-Zero Nero's and the difference was amazing!

I put my tires/wheels on a week and a half ago. I'm using my half used up WS-60s on the front and my new WS-70s on the rear. With all the suspension work, it feels like there's a pole shoved up the middle of the car in which it pivots on... lol

When it's cold it's not as noticeable. 35º and up though... WATCH OUT! SCARY!
