Hey Guys! I am finishing the hoses right now. I know many of you have all different configurations of engine covers so what I am going to do is leave the hose long at the heater core so you can fit to clear your covers. I will have it all made up except for that with pics so you know how to route them. I saw that if I fit them all like my car it would be an issue with covers, so you will have plenty to work with when you get them. Thanks Charlie

I have mine looking good and then I went FK!! I cant shorten everyones, so I will have them fit at the pump and long at the heater core so there can be no issue. Do you have something to cut with George? LOL

Way better. It looks diiferent in person. It looks close to the coil, but there is a 1/2 inch. I took pics close so you can see how to route. I did use all the factory clamps because some might not be able to tighten clamps due to location. All hose sets will be about 10 inches long at heater core end for various cover clearances. Ed, George, Steve, Mike @ New Era, Ray, Yours go out tomorrow evening or Thursday morning is the scheduled pick-up. I have 1 more and that is Robs I believe. Due to the ban I lost my list. If any one wants them, PM me all shipping info. They are $140 shipped. I can make them pretty fast and I can get the stuff in 3 days or less. I have ordered enough for 6 more.

If you want red heat shields I can get them. No $ difference. I ordered a bunch of black, but I know I will have to reorder supplies soon.

Hey Charlie,

Those are just pinch clamps from the factory right? a needle nose to pinch them and then tug the lines off?

Looks pretty straight forward huh?

1 hour job?

I'll take them but no rush... lol

GRRRR8

Yes pinch clamps. I hr max including draining and refilling cooling system.

Probably be a good time to do the pulley in case I need to drain the coolant for some odd reason...

Wouldnt hurt. Pulley can be done with out draining coolant.

Charlie,

Did you ever install a 160 deg. thermostat? Am going to do when I change my hoses. Have had one in my Denali XL(also 6.0) since 2003. Temp came down but looks like it runs at about 175 deg. on hwy. Let me know how you want to be paid... PayPal, Postal Money Order, Credit Card, Bad Check etc.....

For that time period that was more true then now. We have way more control of fans now then back then and as long as its tuned it is fine as long as you dont go under 175-180. It needs to be a certain temp to make the most power and efficiency.

Charlie, on the factory hoses, what are the plastic pieces just a bit up from the pump? Are they quick-disconnects or some sort of flow restrictor? I'm thinking they are QD but can't check without dumping my coolant....

GRRRR8
08-16-2008, 05:08 AM
That was some of the delay finding out, but they are quick disconnects.

The hoses are 5/8?

GRRRR8
08-16-2008, 05:28 AM
I hose is the other has to different sizes on 1 hose, another reason for delay and getting 90 degree bends so they would not restrict coolant flow.

What's cooling system capacity on this thing so I know much dexcoool to buy? If I can find a place to drain my coolant I think I'll do this mod. I need that crap off my fuel rail.

Get 1 gallon Dexcool and 1 gallon distilled, it will take about 1/2 of a 50/50 mix to top it back off.

OK, so you didn't do a full dump? That makes it easier for sure.

I took the blue drain plug out on passenger bottom with cap off and cool. You will lose more when you take hoses off pump, be prepared. When you go to fill make sure heater is on, if heat does not get hot, raise rpms to 1800-2k and it will. Recheck level. The next time it is cool ck level in radiator and tank.
