Today was a good day. I had made an appointment with Nick at ARH to get my 1 7/8's headers installed today. Nick and Jose worked on my car and it took them about 3 1/2 hours which i found surprisingly quick for all i saw they had to do. Let me just tell you guys, there product is top notch and the people that stand behind this product are absolutely fantastic people. Was such a pleasure doing business with Nick and talking to Mike while I waited. They come with my highest recommendation possible. Great people, and great products.
I love the way the car sounds now. Especially that growl when you start it up. Sounds a tad louder and much more throaty. It really comes alive when you get on it. I'm so glad that I live locally to these guys. Fantastic job Nick!!!!
Oh and Nick also said there were some strange things about my car without me even saying anything. The battery wires under the hood were held together with ties that Nick swears isn't stock. We don't know how the hell they got there lol. Here are some pic's from the day.

My money before I bought headers lol

A Twin-turbo charged Z06 they had there that they said put out over 800 rwhp

A suburban with 6 alternators and I think it was 600 hp. The power is to run the alternators. Car is for accessories and a huge sound system i believe.

Congrats on the headers. You are most fortunate to be able to work directly with Nick and American Racing.

Those looks great and I'm sure the install was top notch considering these guys do this stuff all day long. Looking forward to the increased dyno numbers and lower ET's.

I second that.

Congrats on the headers! I agree with you on ARH. They are excellent to work with. You will throw a CEL on the rear 02 sensors so FYI. When you tune it they will eliminate the ECM from reading them.

Can you post pics of the "non-stock" cabling and tie wraps? Just curious.

That is not entirely true. I have not had this code thrown yet after several months???? I have the 3/4 ARH system. The only code I throw is from my front WB O2. That is it.

Congrats on the headers. They are very high quality. Very impressive craftsmanship..

Thats good to hear. Most throw the code to the rear 02 sensors due to the efficiency of the high flow cats. I see by your sig that you have HP tuners. Have you retuned it since the headers?

BTW, what was the code number of the CEL on the front 02's?

Thank you all. They really did a fantastic job. Only way to describe it is, the car came to life! I can't get traction at WOT to save my life! And for some odd reason, my early shifting problem went away! LOL

Sure. See the black straps holding the 2 thick black wires for the battery holding it in place? That's them

So how do you get rid of the codes that the ARH headers cause? I have the VMS tune and plan to get the 3/4 headers installed soon. Would be good to know ahead of time how to get rid of the codes.

Kirk can remove them for you. Give him a call and get on the flash express list.

Once you get them installed and order the tune, they will simply eliminate the ECM's ability to read the sensors. The code is merely measuring the temperature rise rate of the sensors. With the headers and high flow cats the rate is much slower due them being less restrictive. The ECM sees that as a "fault" thus throwing the code.

Congrats! Yea Nick is great to deal with. I had some at length conversations with him when we (meaning Mike @ New Era, lol) first installed the headers on mine. Great product, and even greater customer service.

I highly recommend getting a tune after the header installation. With my VMS tune I was running VERY rich under WOT. I was running in the high 11's to 12.1 or so under WOT. This will not harm your car, but it robs you of power. When I installed the LC-1 I believe I was throwing P0059 (Heater Resistance Bank 2 Sensor 1) but don't really remember exactly which code it was.

Right now I have most codes disabled where my WB is installed.
P0050 - Heater Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 1
P0059 - Heater Resistance Bank 2 Sensor 1
P0154 - Circuit Insufficient Activity Bank 2 Sensor 1
P0155 - Heater Performance Bank 2 Sensor 1

I don't think I need all of them disabled, but I was lazy about it.

I retuned if myself after I installed the headers. I am still working on my VE table (now VE coefficients) but I got my MAF dialed in really well.

I had to bend my own code to program the VE coefficients because HP Tuner's software is not adequate to do this.

Tell me it's an optical illusion and those cables aren't really riding on the headers......

That was before they relocated them. They had to cut those straps N' that's when they said, were the hell did these come from?

I am pretty sure I had the black ties on mine. I know that the wiring is slighlty different from car to car. I had to get a cable extension for both of my front O2 sensors. ARH over-nighted the extra extension for me. Seems all other cars only needed it for the front driver side.

BTW, what was the code number of the CEL on the front 02's? My catted Kooks lt's threw a code after three day's. My tuner said he thought it would but since it was his first G8 he didn't turn the rear O2's off. Like you said, he said it is due to the higher flow through the hi-flow cats'. He didn't even check the codes, said he figured it would happen. Haven't had a light since.

Open mouth. Insert foot.

So after a couple of months and several thousand miles my CIL came on today. Right when it came on I knew exactly what it was. Sure enough when I got home I scanned my car and got the "P0420 - Catalyst System Low Efficiency".

Karma I tell you

I will be disabling this tonight. :)

Just a bad coincidence I'm sure.
