Hey guys, I was just looking for some feedback.

Obviously people like warranties, but since I changed the convertor, headers and exhaust, intake, and tuned the car I've thrown all that out the window and spent a nice penny doing it and would be a hassle to go back and try and put everything back.

Times are obviously tough and I'm thinking about hanging on to the car for the winter to pay down on it a little but giving some thought about getting rid of it in the spring. NADA says with the 10k miles on it a clean retail is around 35 to 36k and even a rough trade in would be around 29k.

My question is, is there a market for people or dealers to buy these cars still around the suggested retail price and if not so how much does it hurt that the car is modified and the 5yr factory warranty won't stand?

....in hind sight I guess I should have really thought this thru before I did all this but once you change one thing it pretty much never stops.

Thanks.

Convert the car to stock specifications to maximize its value. You might get about 50% of your mod parts money back via eBay or classifieds

I would have to agree. You could sell it as it is,but it may take a while to find the right person to buy it. Not to many want to spend that much for no warranty.Good luck on whatever you decide.

Agreed. If you have the performance mods on you'll never get the "book" asking price of $35K. So not only do you lose the value of the mods but hurt the value of your car. Things like stereos, or added gauges won't hurt you - but headers is one that will terrify most buyers (right or wrong)

Remove the performance mods and sell. Depending on the mods you can get 10% to 75% of your money back selling them here and on Craig's List.

I got back right around 5/8 of the mod money back when I de-modded. It's a bunch of work, but worth it.

Unless you find the right buyer, you won't get anything for them. Like others said, they think about the "abuse" the car had.

Throw an add on here for the car with the mods, you might find someone that will buy it with the mods you have. You might find someone looking for that exact combo.

So when you demodded your car you took the convertor back out of it? I have the stock intake, headers and exhaust, but not the convertor.

I guess I'm in for the long haul probably at this point..I like the car, but just have to hit the lottery in order to buy a house and afford to keep the car.

I'm sure someone will trade their stock converter for yours, then sell your mods and you can put it back to stock. You won't lose money selling it modded or trading it in, you just won't get any extra for the mods.

Thanks for the replies guys. At age 22 buying a new 40k car wasn't exactly what I initially in my plans, but after studying in Australia and falilng in love with the Commodores and then they made the GXP I HAD to have one.

However, now at age 24 and wanting to move on with a few plans in the near future I guess the car is in question as to if I can or can't keep it. Only upside is when I financed the car I managed to luckily get 0% financing so I pay strictly on the principal, bad thing was I pretty much financed the full boat. If I were to get rid of it I wouldn't even care about making money, just trying to get the damn thing paid off...

So I'm just weighing my options, which is why I was curious and threw the question out there, but for now I'll hang on to it.

Complete LTs/exhaust, coilovers, complete rear suspension and coilovers, 3.70 diff with truetrac, converter, etc all out at the same time.

Always save your stock parts. Nothing is forever...

I traded mine in with everything on it. And with two accidents on it also. Wasnt mods that hurt me but accidents. But we also have a market for cars lien yours, georges, and mine. Some young 19 yr old soldier will buy it cause it's fast, loud and some salesmen will tell him it was the fastest car around. Ft hood when it sold. And it only was only traded for some bullshit reason.
