Was dicussing the gxp on local board and a guy posted this about the gxp's rear diff...
And the GXP's ring-and-pinion gears are shot-peened and phosphate-coated for enhanced wear and durability, something that can't be said of the rear ends of some other high-output cars.

Is that true? and is it just for the gxp(3.27 and 3.70)? If true...does that mean my new diff(3.27) is the same??

I'm not sure if your 3.27 is the same as the GXP's but the ratios that you listed 3.27 (automatic) and 3.70 (manual) are the GXP ratios.

From what I have read this is true. The diff you bought should be a factory assembly that was for a GXP auto.

Charlie, I think you should get the 3.70 gear and some slicks and THEN take your family for a "ride". I know I would love to ride in that setup. It would destroy anything resembling good gas mileage but it sure would be fun to drive.

It should be...the sticker on the underside of the diff was the same as the one I took out. Only difference was the numbers....3.27 ratio.

If I could fit a 28x10.50 on it it would have 3.70 gears!
