It's hibernating for the winter! :confused2:
Hopefully late April / Early May gets here quickly.

This makes me happy and sad at the same time... Happy because I get to drive my car year round... Sad because my car will have TONS more miles than yours...

Looks nice and snuggles... being comforted by the welcoming shelter of a wing's embrace. :) What type of cover do you use?

I purchased the "stormproof" option in case it was ever NOT stored under the shelter of a wing. :-)

I hear ya. I miss it already. Trust me, if the old Saab wasn't still kicking, the wife would be making me drive it year 'round. (would need winter wheels and tires around here) I plan on storing it for as many winters as I can. I do drive it in the summer though. I purchased it in April '09 and it has ~8900 miles. (short commute to work - so it really is on the high side for me)

I wish I could store mine for the winter but I can't afford to buy another car and insure it since I have a Harley. And just when I thought I wouldn't be riding my bike until spring, it's been warm here so I got to ride it a few more days.

Good Company with what looks like a 172?
Nice rides either way! :)

An airplane? you might be the first on here if you own one.
Like the cover, I've been considering getting one from them.

I purchased mine the same time and am approaching 20k. Can't imagine what I would have on her if I drove her through winters.

Nah. Pilots are hiding everywhere. I'm sure there are a few here.
This is actually my uncle's 172. However, we are at the high level talks of me purchasing. My comment to him after saying he never uses it anymore was, "Do not let it go without talking to me first". I'm still working on my PPL so I don't know if I'm ready or not. (hangar fees, annuals, maintenance, etc)
The plane is in near perfect condition with only ~200 hours on the engine and electronics. He's already said he'd "make me a deal I can't refuse". I should take it more seriously. It'd be a lot better than renting or borrowing others' airplanes. He has taken pristine care of it as he does with all of his toys. ('96 Gran Sport Vette is sitting under the other wing with 13K on it) It's always been stored in the hanger and really looks nearly brand new.
If I bought it, I think the wife may make me put my supercharger dreams on hold, though. :-(

My pleasure. I guess I shouldn't complain. 60 degree weather in mid-November in the D is nice. Even if the GXP went to sleep early.
It probably means we'll be buried in 12+ inches of snow all winter, though. LOL
In my defense, it did snow on the vehicle on the way to the airport. (just a few flakes)

I put my G8 away and 48 hours later we had the warmest November day in history, and it was sunny/beautiful four of the five days that week.

Supercharged G8's still aren't as fast! :)
Looks like a good deal you could have there. I'd go after it if I were you. I'm currently restoring a Waco Biplane with my Father. LUCKILY we have an friend that we help maintain and fly his that is the same model and type as ours so we get the best of both worlds at the moment! He also has a Cherokee that isn't the prettiest thing, but its an airplane and it flies! :D

You won't believe me when I tell you I was a pilot in my former lives, a Fokker, a FW190 and a Mitsubishi Zero. Yea had a run of bad luck. LOL Now I drive a Pontiac P-40 Warhawk.

And that's all that counts in my book! I'd love to restore an old plane someday. Or build, I guess. Very cool stuff and lucky you get to share that with your father. Send some pics of the bi-plane if you have time.
I knew there were some pilots here!
I never said I wanted my G8 "fast". I just implied I'd like it "faster". :-)
Cheers!

Panzer - that's quite a resume. Congrats! Feel free to hi-jack my thread (in the GXP section - sorry mods, kick me out if you'd like) and send some pictures of your P-40.

Snakey, that's a beautiful plane. I took my daughter to her first airshow this past Sunday, and she loved it! Pretty soon she'll be begging me to buy her a plane.

Nice plane! Let me know if you're ever coming up to the SEMI area for a hundred dollar hamburger! I'd love to see it in person.

Thanks! I can't wait to get ours done but this works for now! :) It is a lot of work keeping a 70+ year old airplane going, but man it is worth it! The side windows actually crank down so you can sit there with your elbow hanging out in the breeze like you're somethin'!

This plane is actually based in NW IN and we head out in that direction going to Ohio a couple times a year for different meets.

Just dug up this old thread randomly. I think it was my comment that doomed the SE MI area. We haven't had this much snow in years.
Sorry everyone!
Only ~4 weeks until I get to wake up the car! Can't wait!
