Hey, I just bought a 'left over' V6 from a local dealer (had to go V6, the discounts were amazing).

Next I'm just shopping the market for 'drop in' bits, and tweaks to get the most out of the engine. Not looking at huge power at this point (it is winter, and it is a daily driver) so, if you have suggestions, throw them at me.

Thanks, and thanks for hosting this forum!

Thanks for moving this to the correct location.

On the subject of the CAI, would something like a K&N CAI for a CTS with a 3.6 work, or are the engine compartments completely different?

I can't seem to find much on the subject in regards to upgrades, is it just these are a little to new over here in the states?

Forgive my Nubiness, and thanks in advance.

Gee, never would have thought of that.

Thanks for your well versed, and thought out opinion.

In the meantime, I look forward to learning from this forum, and using some of those business' that sponsor it.

So again, thanks for putting it together.

unfortunately the CTS system would not work properly. TMK there are no compaines that currently make a CAI for the 3.6 G8, at least in the us... I would imagine the closest fit will be the new camaro when it is released, but still it wont be identical... I wish i could give you some advice on what route to go, but currently items are limited for the v6...

Roto-fab tried to make one but nobody would bring their car for fitting.

Thanks for the tips guys, and for the heads up on Roto-fab. I wish I lived closer to Indiana (or it wasn't winter in the Mid-West).

I'm trying to hook up with a local guy that was looking for a V6 to get measurements from, so maybe we'll get something for the 'little engine' sometime.

Again, much appreciated.

I have read good things about the Australian OPG CAI for the V6. Reasonable price with the exchange rate. I am considering picking one up.

CAI and ECU tune will give you nice gains.

IS there anyone who is doing ECU tunes for the V6? I haven't seen any yet but would think there should be some as this engine is in a lot of GM cars.

Gaurantee any of the big boys could do it... I mean it is just a GM chip right?

Yeah they do it here in Oz. The low feature V6 with OTR and tune can net around 25hp at the wheels.

So i reckon you can get the V6 to 300hp at the flywheel pretty easily.

I don't think it just a GM chip as the complete engine management system is Bosch, not GM.

Menace, any contacts on those who are tuning them in Oz land? Or any idea which tuner program they are using? Thanks.

Ok this is what i've got from www.ls1.com.au i did a search for "Alloytec tune". So if you want to do some more research you can do so...

A "Russo Performance" OTR will net you around 13hp atw without a tune.

A Custom made OTR and tune from a company called BTA Motorsport will net you around 28hp atw on a Low Feature V6 so you should net more of the G8's High Feature V6.

Another company that offers power upgrades:

Hope this helps
