After GM killed off Pontiac brand I started to notice just how many Pontiacs are on the road and there are a lot of them. Had it been me I would have got rid of GMC, GM doesn’t need 2 truck brands. They are losing a lot of market share without Pontiac.

Pontiac outsold Buick quite handily.

... in the US, perhaps. My understanding is they wouldn't get rid of Buick due to strong brand presence in China.

Who knows what they're thinking. Thanks for making my car collectible, GM :)

Does that mean parts and service will suck even worse?

 I predict that due to this issue, that for many of us, this will be our last GM product

If it wasn't for Pontiac's my family would have to walk. We have 4 of them..

Interesting. Did not know that GM had that many employees. LOL. My G8 was my second GM product. The first was the 6000STE, which for a FWD car was pretty good.

Not me, I've been driving GM cars for 30+ years and I'd never buy any other brand. Since Pontiac is gone I'll just go back to Chevy, or move up to a Cadillac.

Yes, I could see a getting a used CTS-V from an old lady some day.

Here's one that a little old lady drove to church and to the grocery store. A 2005 with 866 miles on it.

The 2009's are still going for $50K plus so I'll have to wait a few more years to get into one of those.

Question, is it me or has the G8 been holding value pretty well?

Truly a sad day. G8 is my 4th Pontiac.

I am more convinced than ever that GM is secretly being run by undercover Ford and Mopar execs.

R.I.P. Pontiac -- I've had more Pontiacs over the years than I can count, starting with a 1967 GTO.

Yes they are since the G8 is in short supply. The GT's are going for around 26K-28K in the Chicago area which is what a lot of people bought them new for.

I've always liked pontiac's... I've owned an 89 Firebird Formula WS6, 94 Trans am, 98 Trans am WS6, and my 2008 G8 Gt. I'll miss the pontiac brand. The only Chevy I'd have is a z06 vette. CTS-v would be the only 4 door I'd consider from GM now, but they are really proud of the 2009+

I thought so, I was asked recently by the sales manager at the local dealer where I take my car to if I wanted to sell it because while I was waiting, he was asked by a person to ask the owner if he would sell (Which I wont ) And I paid 27500 New back in August 08 because in NY at that time, nothing was selling new so I got a great deal.

I am thinking I may need to by a beater and make this a keeper :)

Thought I'd jump in with my 2 cents. As far as I can remember, I've had 8 Pontiacs going all the way back to my first, a 1961 Bonneville convertable.
I was 17. The day after I got married I took all the money from the envelopes and bought a used 1965 Catalina 2+2 in silver with black interior.
That was my favorite until my current '09 G8 GT that I just bought August 31. I was told the same thing about the end of Pontiac, China loves Buicks
and I guess the new Government Motors loves China. As far as price goes, I spent several weeks looking for a GT and it became apparent that they
are quite desirable and the prices were reflecting it. Several were sold by the time I got there. I'm glad though because I ended up getting just what
I wanted. Panther Black, Onyx/Red leather int., sunroof, Premium package, 19" wheels, custom Varex X-Force exhaust, aftermarket GPS installed
in dash for $24,500!

I'm posting these pics I took right after I bought my GT. Hope they come out ok. One thing I really like is the interior colors, pictures don't do it justice. The red is not as bright and intrusive as the pictures show. It really gets all kinds of compliments. The Panther Black, as you know, is really special in the sunlight with the subtle sparkle.
