I noticed at my first fill-up that the spring-loaded flap at the top of the fuel-neck was missing. I can see where it was once installed (there are indentations in the metal) and am wondering if I should take it in to get fixed. How would they get it out of the tank? Does this pose any hazard if I don't get it taken care of?

[Mods, I didn't know where to put this so please feel free to move it]

It really shouldnt be an issue. That is all part of the fuel filler neck. Just get it fixed before its off warranty. It can not suck up into the pump because there is a strainer on the bottom of the pump.

GM is doing away with the spring loaded flap. I ask the dealer and he showed me a envoy without it also.

I just checked mine and it's missing too. If it's not supposed to be there that's cool, but I want to make sure.
