What Color Wrap?

I have been thinking about wrapping my car for a while, and the perfect opportunity presented itself this morning. So, now I need to decide what color or theme to go with.

Wow. Suprisingly I had tossed this idea around a few months ago until I found out what the pros charge to do a complete wrap. Flat or satin black would be my choice. OT but wtf did they do to that AMG? lol, that thing is horrid. If you do get the car wrapped, try and get a part number for the vinyl that they use.

Personally I like your car the way it is, but if I had to choose I'd say the matte gray. What is the longevity and the up keep on the wraps? I've only seen one car wrapped and I have very little knowledge of how the wrap holds up.

I saw a matte silver M5 show up at the local meets, looks amazing in person...it makes everyone do such a double take, cause it looks like a factory color and then you go wait why is it all matte? I voted white tho...think it just makes the lines of the car stand out and since you did the conversion I think it should all be accented.

I would probably only leave it wrapped for a year. If you haven't noticed, I like to change the look of my car often. Basically the wrap is going to be free, as I have the opportunity to trade services for it.

what about the door,trunk and hood jambs? I voted matte gray if you want my opinion on the color.

Someone on another forum mentioned doing the car in Matte and something similar to what they put on Cop cars. The car in daylight is Matte Black and Red, this is what it looks like at night:

It's a fad, just like black wheels which I don't like either. I agree with you about having money to burn, there's a lot of things I'd like to get for my car but don't have the money. Yet the OP has a great looking car and he still wants to pump more money into it.

Matte orange on the top half to match the headlights with the new wheels in black and then a black/orange powder coated harrop 2300 s/c. Done...

Not a huge fan of the matte, Id say go a regular gloss color. Also though, I wouldn't do a grey since ur car is already grey, go something completely different from what u already have...since u can just peel it off when you get bored of that color....

I think your car is really nice the way its sits.
If your itching to change something than go with the wheels because you can always change a look of a car just by installing different wheels.

I wouldn't do a wrap if I had money to throw at my car. I would spend the money on go fast stuff, and new wheels. I am only considering this because a new potential client is interested in swapping services. In my mind, that makes it Free!

But the two tone thing is cool, I just dont think it fits our body style... unless you went with a bathurst theme or something like that.

I never saw these pics in the long running thread about painting the G8 matte black. Guess this answers the question on what it would look like. The original red paint works with this scheme of red/black on the exterior.

It's a fad, just like black wheels which I don't like either. I agree with you about having money to burn, there's a lot of things I'd like to get for my car but don't have the money. Yet the OP has a great looking car and he still wants to pump more money into it.

That's paint.. and it's on a Bentley. It was done by West Coast Customs. It also has a Segway in the trunk. It's the owner of Monster Cables car.

I never said it was a wrap. I said I was thinking about doing a pattern, maybe something with Holden logos. I saw the WCC show on that car, and the pattern in it was the best example other than the Maserati I could think of.

Stryker Blue would be a great choice, but it is a metallic, and vinyl wraps don't come in metallics. You can get gloss, but not metallic.

Whoever does it...make sure they know what they are doing. A lot of "wraps" done...have ruined paint. The people doing them left ra
zor blade marks in the paint...

I've seen a black jag here with CA plates in flat or matte black. I think it is played out because a lot of people do it....

As long as your paint survives unharmed...I would just go with matte grey if you had to do it.

Maybe matte grey with carbon bathurst stripes with an orange outline on them.

Have to agree with MIEngineer.

I know someone with a G37 that did his roof and when he went to pull it off to trade it in the paint had razor blade cuts in it.
Also some of the vinyl FKD up the clear. Not good! Make sure they are a legit place w/ insurance.
