Fuel gauge

When does the low fuel light for everybody turn on? Mine has recently started telling me low fuel. when I get to the gas station I put in right at 15 Gallons. It used to come on around 17 gallons if I recall. Does anybody light come on that early? Just seeing if it's normal.

its pretty close...I usually put around 16 gallons

In my car, the low fuel light comes when the 'range' reading falls below 40 miles and that varies with MPG. If I'm doing a lot of highway driving (or behaving) - MPGs are up and I'll fill up with around 17.5 gallons. After my 'normal' driving habits around town - MPGs down and it takes 15 gallons. I try not to rely on that light to remind me all the time, but it happens.

Mine is usually around 15 gallons. One thing that is annoying is what the light comes on the range just says Low Fuel....Like I didn't know :hmm:

I didn't know there was a "very low fuel" warning! I guess I chicken out too early.

My low fuel comes on with 5 gallons left in tank and then very low fuel with 2 gallons left. Seems stupid that after the first low fuel comes on the range goes to low and stops estimating miles left. Makes it just about useless as you may try to remember at what mileage the low fuel came on if you park the car after that for any length of time. Seems with computers, they could have made a way to program how many gallons are left before the warning comes on, IE: 2 gallons left at low fuel and one gallon left at very low fuel, depending on ones taste. I don't feel low fuel should come on when i can drive over 100 miles on what is left in tank. On long trips when i get 23mpg or better, this becomes more absurd.

I think I've only had the light come on twice in the year and a half I've had the car and the most I've ever put in the 19 gallon tank was 15.5. I usually full up when I get to halfway. Just one of those little things :)

Yeah, I try not to let it get under 1/4 tank myself.
