Just a heads up. Went last year. Car show, swap meet, and logged a lot of runs.

It's about a 2hr drive for me. I would like to get the car to the track at least once this year. Would this be a good place for a newbie? I have never run a car at a track before.

The track is fine. Not outstanding but fine. Last Halloween was my first time out in the car at Atco also for Pontiac Day. Atco is known to produce fast times in good weather due to it being pretty much a ZERO elevation; plus the 1/4 goes downhill (just kidding). The other advantage is that since it's Pontiac Day, that first hour or so shouldn't be that crowded for racing. You'll get in 2 or 3 non-pressured runs. Plus you'll get plenty of support from Al, myself, and the other guys there - some of us are new to dragging the G8 also.

Atco is one of the faster tracks in the country due to it's elevation. Great track for beginners if you ask me.

Course, I still need to get my ass there. It's a Saturday (thankfully!) so maybe I will be able to make it out!

Even though it's the Pontiac Nationals the racing part is open to all cars. The carshow is just for Pontiacs new and old.

So the 9-10AM racing is not for just Pontiacs?

Regardless, it really wasn't that crowded last year. We could have gotten 5+ runs in that day and that was with the bad weather hold-up and track drying we waited through...

50 degrees = great for power
50 degrees = shit for traction

plus you have to drive through the water which sucks. good thing i rotated my tires lol

Ran a 12.89 at Raceway, so Atco has been known for .2 quicker. Would like a 12.6 :) All about traction and I have a feeling thats going to be a bit of an issue. Damn mods. I need wider tires!

Drivin through the water isn't a big deal. I've cut the best 60' times at atco still going through the water on stock rubber. Drive through slowly, spin a little to get some smoke...go have fun

Yea it sucks having to drive through water. Just go very very slow. Don't want water splashing into wheel wells and then dripping onto tire while your sitting there. Everyone use same method to burnout? Hold the brake pedal and gas it up? Never tried hand brake doubt that would work. Water generally isn't a problem but when its cold its more so then when it 90 degrees out and track is hot and sticky. Tom should be interesting lol

jjujusjust got my fuel rail covers yesterday! engine bay 99% done. just need some letting for the covers, fuse box cover, and that should be it.

The lady on the phone told me Test & Tune is $35. But if you want to enter the bracket racing it's $40. If you read the banner I posted at the top it tells you how much money you could win with bracket racing.
