Thanks for the link.

I figured the difference would be considerable considering the LS3 motor for the GXP vs what's in the GT now.

Edmunds tested an 08 GT back in Feb, to a tune of 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. The GT ran a 13.7 at 104 mph. They also tested a 425hp Charger Super Bee along with the G8. The Super Bee ran a 13.6 at 106 and had the G8 by a fender at 60 and 105mph.

Edmunds went on to say put some shorter gears in the G8 and the Super Bee would've been looking up the G8's four exhaust pipes.

I imagine if you put shorter gears in the G8, it would give the GXP Edmunds tested all it could handle and then some.

Are those front fenders flared more than the G8's are? I'd have been perfectly satisfied if the 6 speed had been available for the G8.

While the test drives of the GXP haven't been in the 12's yet. I have NO doubt that when these cars finally get here you will see 12's right out of the box. From my experience, car magazine drivers usually run 2 to 3 tenths slower than the cars will really run.

The fenders are the same. EVERYONE would have been happy if the GT came with a manual transmission.

Did I read somewhere that the 09's will have the 6 speed option or is that just some fluff I've heard?

GT's will not have a manual transmission. The GXP's will have it.

I think he meant a 6 speed manual.

If you get a manual six speed, you give up the cylinder deactivation, thus the good mileage that the GT gets. Manufacturers do not seem to be able to offer both.

But the tremec 6-speed in the GXP is drooling material...

It appears that most of the people that have driven the GXP agree with you.

If you want a performance car, MPG is the last thing you should be thinking about.

BTW, My G8GT does not have DOD anymore. on interstate I get about 27 MPG

hell, my 08 impala with 3.5 V6 only get 26 MPG on interstate

Im sure its because the impala is only a 4 spd. What did you do to remove the DOD?
