Just saw this article and it's accompany video, and I am amazed.
With the next generation "touchscreen" radio that is in the E3 series Holden VE's, it has like a super-engineering-mode graphics capabilities that rock.

Pictures insert isn't working properly, but I think the first one showed up. Grrrrr
Here's a link to some of the sample pics:

That image (along with others) can be displayed on the radio faceplate -- talk about cool!
Okay, lets see. The PPV is a success and GM NA decides to introduce a Caddilac or Chevy zeta import ... what are the chances that it would sport this EDR?

Looks like fun... I wonder if it's GPS integrated as well (that's one of the favorite parts of my data logger). I like how more of the systems (wheel slip, etc.) are tracked without additional sensors (something my logger doesn't currently do).

Todd,
From the video embedded in the link and the pictures... It musy definately has GPS! May currently be Aussie-only... But if an uplevel Impala or Caddilac zeta VE3 makes it to the states.. It would rock to have 'track mode'.
It looks to have understeer/oversteer realtime graphs too, and there's one pic in the second (pictures) link that shows a track in gps coordinates with speed and other sensor data overlayed.
Pretty awesome!

would the "NEW" holden touch screen unit be the same with different "firmware" or different hardware completely?

I fear that this will become another "Bluetooth" type thread. Yes you can, no you cannot, maybe, no way, possibly, I saw it on ebay. Basically, if CP says yes/no and Chris White says yes/no thats what I take as the answer. Then again, I heard that a guy in outer Siberia can get these, and will ship them to you by dogsled through Alaska for 20 cases of Vodka.

I have no idea at this stage.
I 'd have to go and visually compare a few Holden VE Series2's side by side with a few E3 HSV's
Every Holden Series2 model (Omega,Berlina, Calais, SS, SS-V, Caprice) has the iQ system and they may not even be the same amoungst themselves.
There may even be differences across the E3 HSV range (Clubsport,GTS,Maloo, Grange etc)
One thing is certain, technical information will be hard to get access to.
"HSV’s intellectual property, including all trade marks, copyright, patents, processes, technical information and knowhow in relation to the EDI Device remain the property of HSV at all times and HSV does not transfer or assign any of those rights."

I saw that Paul but I wanders what shipping to the US would cost. It also was not cheap.

That's awesome technology that they're adding.

Probably about $200 minimum with insurance.
I'd be more concerned about knowing what else is needed to ensure it functions in a G8. To my knowledge nobody has done an evaluation on retrofitting these.

Isn't this offered on the Vauxhaul Xr version of the Buick Regal Turbo? I think I saw something about it on top gear. I suspect you will see more of this.
