the 275/40/17's i just took off my car had a deep crack in the inside sidewall. both of them. i would say the tires are only about 1/3 used up but now they are shot. i spent a lot of time and miles driving around with them at 20psi. extended periods on the interestate.

i am 90% sure the 20psi while driving is what caused the problem. too heavy of a car with too low of pressure. just a heads up so it doesn't happen to anyone else. from now on i will be sure to get that pressure up to 35psi or so for any driving and just air them down when i need to.

I usually run 30-32 on the street to and from but occasionally drive home(13 miles) at 20

Subject: Technical Question: DOT radial

Hi,
I am looking at ET Street & ET Street Radial II, I see that they are dot approved but I have some question that I could not find on your site.

Can these be put on a daily driven car?
Is it safe to drive with either of these tires on the highway 85 miles @(65-70mph) to the drag strip?

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,

You don’t want these on a daily driver these are real soft and will be worn out in no time at all. Just to get you back and forth from the track.

Thanks,

Shaun,
So it would it would be fine to drive 170miles round trip to and from the track?

Thanks,

Kevin
No we would strongly not recommend that as that is a far distance and would be to much consistent long distance heat.

I drove home tonight at 20 and they new DRs(same as your size) get squirrely at 55 compared to the 25.7 I use to run

i am suprized how long these tires last. i would say an easy 3000miles and 100+ track runs with a mild burn out. i drive the shit out of them. i will be disapointed if the new ones crack while keeping the pressure up for the road driving.

I'll be mounting my DR's this morning. I'll get the pressure up to at least 30.

I run my slicks at 17 but keep them at 25-30 between races and on the trailer.

I have the hoosier drag radials. 275 40 17. I get my best times with them pumped up to 30 plus. weird i know. i do a good burnout and then they hook. admittedly like tonight when i meet alex at sir i will change them there. but i am positive i will get tired/lazy and drive home on them from the track 40 miles. and change them the next day . so far no ill effects except for wearing them out faster by by driving on the street for 40 miles. so mine are always at 30 to 32.

the hoosiers that i have are dot legal. but definitely not recommended for highway driving.

by the way Alex tonight with his procharger turned an 11.8 at 117 at a da of over 5500 feet! Not bad!
