I'm sometimes from Iowa..... (Clear Lake) and I lived in Cedar Falls for 25 years. All three kids and families live there. Spent Christmas there last week. Drove around Q cities on way back to Naples. Many of our close friends down here are from your area, ( retired John Deere execs.) They drive some of the coolest large tractors I've ever seen! (joke)

Know how you felt.....We slid our way back fro Naples in our M6 GTO with a/s. Had to get it back up North. Fortunately got it to CL and picked up 4wd Denali XL which both goes and stops better on snow and ice. It's gas mileage was same or worse for trip than G8 in Oct.

Weird... I have an '09 G8 as well and an '06 Subie Legacy GT with 5 speed. Fiance drives it now... Well I guess I drive it now as my car is in my garage with a busted lower control arm ball joint... Ugh...

Great combination of vehicles!

My wife works for UNI and refuses to drive the G8 to campus, as she averages a door ding every 2 days with the Subaru. This leaves me stuck driving the G8 :).

Chewy

So far so good.

My wife likes to drive the G8 when she is not going to work. Mysteriously, there is always this thick, black, dusty residue on the bumper/quarter panel behind the rear tires after she takes the car out... :hmm: I'm thinking she digs the car.

Yeah my fiance works for a car dealer and drives a lot of the cars. She drove a V6 model and LOVED it. Her first comment was "it doesn't feel as big as it is." I agreed!

Thankfully mine is a company car and until we're married there's no driving it. Of course I HIGHLY doubt it will happen afterwards... She know's I am UBER anal about my toys.

My wife took my GT in for an oil change today. It's a pretty rare occasion that she drives it, but she's closer to Jiffy Lube than I am. Mixed bag for her. She was pissed when she found out that the beast requires 8.8 quarts, but loved the fact that all the guys working were crowding around when they saw V8 on the engine cover. Must be the first G8 through the place. Way more compliments than her Grand Prix has ever brought her.

I've seen a G8 GT in Tama Ia. the past few weeks. I also saw one from Texas a month ago parked at a bar downtown in CF. Had to go inside and take a look around while I forced myself to drink a beer! Welcome to the sight and I hope we can all meet sometime.

...Way more compliments than her Grand Prix has ever brought her.

I was in Dubuque this past weekend & stopped at this bar called "The Handlebar" in Durango, IA (get away from the in-laws for ~1 beer). I was there for ~5 minutes when a girl standing at the door asks who's red car that is. I said it was mine, asked if it was on fire or something. I have never seen anyone give a crap about any vehicle I have owned. She asks what it is, then wants to see it up close. As I went out to show her the car, everyone in the bar (~10 people) came outside to check out the vehicle. These guys/girls were all harley riders. They were boggled by the car & details. They all seemed to love the car! I left a short time later and they all stood at the door watching & listening as I left. They couldn't believe it was a V8. It was a pretty cool experience.

About 6 blocks from my employer, I spotted another liquid red G8 GT w/18's, pulling into a different facility. It still had its paper tags. Now I can drive like a maniac and shoulder the burden, j/k! I believe there are now (4) G8 GTs that commute to the same industrial park.

I suspect there is an under cover liqued red G8 GT roaming Black Hawk county. Look at the video. Notice the light kit in the car along with a standard issue license plate. MI suppose it could be a firefighter, but based on the placement of the lights, lack of firefighter plate, I am guessing under cover.

Our next meet is planned for Sunday August 15th @ 4pm. We will be meeting at the Beck's on University Ave. in Waterloo (top parking lot). The plan is to take a 15 minute drive; probably to Gilbertville, IA. The drive is still up in the air, will be decided once we get to Beck's. Goal of the drive is to find a restaurant that serves appetizers and or dinner. Anyone is invited, the general idea is to have G8s and GTOs. Modern Camaros would be cool to see as well!

Welcome! Make sure to make it down here to the G.O.N.E event in September! Stock or not!

I run WS-60/70's on 17" wheels in the winter. This IS my last winter with it though. The gloves are off... This baby's going to make some HP.

I guess I should probably check in on this huh. ;) I know a few of you from the QCA. Couple more weeks and it will be time for the 2013 iNational G8 Meet, really looking forward to seeing everyone this year!!

To kinda play catch up a bit. Bought the car new in 09' up in Wisconsin, I drive mine year round, drag race it, show it when I can, do my own work on it, and just all around enjoy the hell out of the car. Gonna try and get to the dyno before the G8 meet to see what the new motor combo puts down. I will have a full write up on the the build after I get some dyno numbers, that's what you all wanna know anyway right lol!

Hahaha... Only took you 4 years!

I was hoping to have my car done for the meet but it didn't happen! It took WAY too long to get my new DD. Looking forward to seeing what you did. I'm thinking about a built LS3 for mine. We'll see though. I need more suspension work too.

I know, I know lol!! Sounds like you have some nice plans for your G8! A built LS3 will slide ohhhh so nicely between the fenders on your car! I'm just turning over 200 miles on the new motor in mine, runs like a pack of pistol whipped mules that's for sure!

I signed up for the dyno at the meet as well, that is cool as heck that Joe was able to work that out!! Still gonna try and get mine to the dyno in the next week or two and see what it puts down and use the two results as a comarison. I'm hoping with the 418 and the other little things that I have done that I can get close to 500rwhp with this thing. Heck, I put down 455rwhp with the Vector 2.5 cam and a set of messed up heads on the stock bottom end two years ago. We shall see though. Really looking forward to seeing everyone again and having a blast this year as well! Hope we can shake this heat by then and have some nice cool weather for our night at Cordova!!

If there are ever any car shows going on in the QCA that you are gonna be attending let me know a day or two in advance. I always seem to hear about them afterwards lol. I can get the car all shined up and meet you there and we can represent the G8 community nicely! :)

We had 4 G8s at the last cruise in at Northpark mall. There are also some cruise ins at Southpark mall. If you guys are interested in some Saturday night activities, these are some fun times, and very family friendly. I bring a cooler and a few beers. There are usually 150-200 cars of all types that show up. There was a sweet 55 Buick that was done by Rad Rides by Troy a few weeks ago that was in Hot Rod magazine. I can look up the schedule.

Tom, I'm all over that when I get my car to stop being a DD. It's just too hard keeping it nice working across from a concrete plant. I sold my motorcycles and decided to buy the G8 for the reason that I can fit my two boys and my wife in the car.

Tommy, that would be cool as hell. Next time you're thinking about going to one at Northpark hit me up if ya want a couple days in advance so I can get mine all shined up and I'll try and meet you there.

Your car doesn't need to be detailed and perfect for a cruise-in guys. There are no judges or ballots. Just a bunch of car guys hanging out. Just throw a bucket of water over it and hit the road. Last cruise-in at Northpark Is during the national meet. There is one more at southpark though on the 14th. I will probably go to that one.

I might be going to a show in fruitland tomorrow HMU if you're interested.

I wish I could do tomorrows, but I have family stuff going on... Soccer and birthday, but I REALLY would love to see a contingent of G8s from the meet, make it to the one on the 21st.

I'd love to. Especially with it being so close. I'm actually in davenport often to keep my flight ratings current.

This weekend just doesn't work out for me.
