Got the can at Tractor supply Co. It is plastic, and has 80 mesh stainless in it. It runs $22 plus all of the fitting/hoses. the body is threaded and it holds about 8 oz.
Hopefully the pic loads.

That's really cool, could you give more details on how you installed it and any modifications you did to the can? Is it about the same as the Machined ones I've seen in other threads? Sorry if I'm missing something dumb

I looked on the website and couldn't find it. Can you provide some more details please?

Is it made to hold hot oil? It gets pretty warm there, some plastics are good, some not so....

I just went to ebay and typed in "oil catch can".
There are hundreds of them listed. May not be as
pretty as billet aluminum but certainly look functional.
Most have a sight gauge on the side to tell how full it is.
The best part - most range from $20 - $40 shipped.
I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but this is the
way I'll probably go in the spring.

Just be sure to avoid vented cans.

This may have been answered somewhere else, but what is the purpose of doing this? I've never heard of catch cans before.

To prevent oil from going through the air intake.

When you pull your throttle body off and look into the intake it's not a pretty site , there is quite a bit of oil coating the inside of the intake ,to remove this from the insde of the intake is the purpose of the catch can. This should help with better combustion. With that said , a check on the inside of the intake should be done after the install to see if the can is doing what it is suppose to do

I was shocked at how much oil was in the runners when my manifold was removed. A catch can is really a needed item in my opinion.

If you could get a 20-40$ metal can off EBAY that is not vented, I'd say go for it. Mine was merely an experiment to see if it could be done with hardware store parts. The "can" itself is some sort of tractor part, I don't know what it is called. It is plastic, but so far seems to be holding up. I also used all plastic fittings. Anyone looking into this, I would advise...use hose clamps! The system that you pull off does not have them, but my check engine light an 15.5 sec 1/4 mile tells me that they are definately needed.
Good luck

I looked at some of the eBay cans. Some of them will be fine if you can figure out how and where to mount the can. We don't have a lot of flat vertical surfaces which seems to be what a lot of them want. And yea, use hose clamps, this system needs to be sealed tight.
